SPS tokens: Market Value, My Investment Goal and Miscellaneous Considerations
Splinterlands is my favorite blockchain-based game and it's also the game I decided to play and invest in that has the most assets:
- DEC tokens
- SPS token
- PLOT token
- TRACK token
- TOTEMC, TOTEMR, TOTEME, TOTEML tokens
- VOUCHER token
- SPS token
- SPT token
- Cards that can be used in the game (NFT)
- Cards not usable in the game (NFT purchasable with SPT tokens on Splintertalk)
To many assets correspond many possible investment strategies. In the world of blockchains the value of the tokens is volatile and it is important to try to predict their trend when you want to decide to invest.
In the game of Splinterlands, unlike other blockchain projects that I follow, my approach has always been basically the simplest possible: the Holder.
The reason for this less-than-dynamic attitude from an investment perspective is mainly due to the fact that Splinterlands is a game that I enjoy:
- I like to play
- I like to write and publish content related to the game on Hive
- I like to optimize my collection of cards
But above all I consider Splinterlands still the best game of the TCG genre within the panorama of blockchain-based games and the most complete at the moment for the many investment possibilities it offers. When and if I discover a game better than Splinterlands then I will evaluate what to do but for the moment I continue to play and continue to have medium to long term growth goals on Splinterlands. **
The value of the assets of Splinterlands

Over the past couple of months, all of the Splinterlands game assets have lost value.
But I still see potential in the project because Splinterlands still has a lot of development phases to complete as you can see from the Splinterlands Roadmap (image below).
I've been a Splinterlands player for over two years now and this is not the first time that Splinterlands game assets have lost value and in fact in the past there have been several fluctuations in the value of Splinterlands assets. For example, when the Untamed collection was released there were only two assets (DEC and NFT) and in that circumstance the cards of the Beta collection had a loss of value and then they regained that value and then they exceeded it. The same thing happened with the release of the Chaos Legion collection.
For example, in June 2020 some players who had collections of cards of great value have put their cards for sale at very low prices. Maybe at that time they thought that Splinterlands had reached its peak or they simply had other investment goals but I think today they are regretting that decision.
Just in that period I took advantage of the very low prices and I bought a lot of cards from the Beta collection and I focused especially on the purchase of summoner cards.
On June 26, I published a post where I shared my decision to invest because the cards were really priced for me. **

For example, on June 26, 2020, I purchased the level 6 Malric Inferno summoner for only $21**.
At that time I unfortunately didn't have much liquidity to invest in the Splinterlands game but all of my purchases turned out to be good purchases and good investments.
Today Marlic Inferno of level 1 has a market value of 28.21$ while the lowest market value considering the USD/BCX ratio is 8.696$

The SPS tokens: Value and Considerations
Of all the assets in Splinterlands, the SPS** tokens are the ones that have lost the most value in percentage terms over the last period (October 18, 2021 - January 4, 2022) compared to the others.
The highest value was touched on July 28, 2021: 1.1261$
As often happens when a new token is created expectations are very high and above all there is the FOMO effect that pushes the value of a token up.
The FOMO effect generally lasts very short and often follows a drop in value (DUMP) and in fact only 7 days later, on August 6, 2021, the value of SPS tokens was $0.2411
On September 24, 2021, Splinterland published a post announcing the launch of the Chaos Legion collection Presale and introduced VOUCHER tokens as a prerequisite to participate in the presale.
VOUCHER tokens, distributed only to SPS token holders, thus introduced a new use case for SPS tokens. Generally, the more use cases a token has, the more its value increases and in fact the value of SPS tokens went from a value of 0.2741$ (September 24) to a value of 0.3549$ in less than 24 hours (September 25, 2021).
Since then, the SPS token value has been trending upwards and 7 days before the start of the presale, the SPS token was worth $0.9526 (October 11, 2021).
Over the next few days there were fluctuations in value and on the first day of the pre-sale (October 18, 2021) the SPS tokens were worth $0.8982
After October 18, 2021, the value of SPS tokens began a gradual decline until it reached its lowest value ever, on December 29, 2021: 0.1767$
On December 29, Splinterlands published an update post on the Roadmap of SPS tokens and the value of SPS tokens resumed its climb to 0.237$.
Today January 4, 2021 the value of 1 SPS token is 0.2187$.
The current value of SPS tokens is a result of the gradual loss of use cases. During the presale, SPS tokens:
- Were useful for obtaining VOUCHER tokens that had a very high value. On the first day of the presale 1 VOUCHER token was worth 29 - 30 SWAP.HIVE.
- they could be used to get a 10% discount on the purchase of Chaos Legion cards packs
- if put in staking guaranteed an APR much higher than today
Today the SPS tokens still allow to receive VOUCHER tokens and will allow it in the future but the value of VOUCHER tokens is much lower than the presale: 1.68 SWAP.HIVE = $2.71
Every time a new use case for SPS tokens was announced or introduced there was a subsequent increase in value and therefore it was possible to trade SPS tokens to make profits.
However, I am not a trader and since the airdrop of the SPS tokens started I have always put all my SPS tokens in staking. So far I have accumulated a total of 17642 SPS tokens.
I continue to follow my path as Holder and have also set a goal that I would like to achieve for SPS tokens before the airdrop ends: at least 50000 SPS tokens.
As announced in the post published by @splinterlands on December 29, 2021, SPS tokens will have many use cases in the future and throughout 2022:
- SPS Validator Nodes & Governance Voting
- $4M+ non-SPS funds in treasury to be owned & controlled by staked SPS token holders
- ~$12M of Riftwatchers pack sales purchasable exclusively with SPS, all going to the SPS foundation treasury
- Land expansion heavy reliance on SPS token staking
- Private sale & airdrop distributions ending leading to over 53M fewer SPS tokens distributed each month
- New reward pools to incentivize gameplay + SPS delegation
Obviously mine are just personal assessments but when the use cases announced by Splinterlands are introduced and when the SPS token airdrop ends the value of the SPS tokens may increase.

My buying strategy related to SPS tokens.

As long as the value of SPS tokens remains below $0.25 I will purchase SPS tokens at regular intervals to reach my purchase goal of at least 50000 SPS tokens.
Also when the general sale of the Chaos Legion collection begins I will try to purchase at least 1000 packs of Chaos Legion cards and my purchase will allow me to increase my SPS token airdrop score and consequently I should also increase the amount of SPS tokens I will receive daily from the airdrop.

Splinterlands è il mio gioco basato su blockchain preferito ed è anche il gioco a cui ho deciso di giocare ed investire che ha il maggior numero di assets:
- token DEC
- token SPS
- token PLOT
- token TRACK
- token TOTEMC, TOTEMR, TOTEME, TOTEML
- token VOUCHER
- token SPS
- token SPT
- Carte utilizzabili nel gioco (NFT)
- Carte non utilizzabili nel gioco (NFT acquistabili con i token SPT su Splintertalk)
A tanti assets corrispondono tante possibili strategie di investimento. Nel mondo delle blockchains il valore dei token è volatile ed è importante cercare di prevedere il loro andamento quando si vuole decidere di investire.
Nel gioco di Splinterlands, a differenza di altri progetti blockchain, il mio approccio è stato sempre e sostanzialmente quello più semplice possibile: l'Holder.
Il motivo di questo atteggiamento poco dinamico dal punto di vista dell'investimento è dovuto principalmente al fatto che Splinterlands è un gioco che mi piace:
- mi piace giocare
- mi piace scrivere e pubblicare contenuti inerenti al gioco su Hive
- mi piace ottimizzare la mia collezione di carte
Ma soprattutto considero Splinterlands ancora il miglior gioco del genere TCG all'interno del panorama dei giochi basati su blockchain e il più completo al momento per le tante possibilità di investimento che offre. Quando e se scoprirò un gioco migliiore di Splinterlands allora valuterò il da farsi ma per il momento continuo a giocare e continuo ad avere obiettivi di crescita di medio- lungo termine su Splinterlands. **
Il valore degli assets di Splinterlands

Negli ultimi due mesi tutti gli assets del gioco di Splinterlands hanno perso valore.
Io però continuo a vedere potenziale nel progetto perchè Splinterlands ha ancora tante fasi di sviluppo da completare come puoi vedere dalla Splinterlands Roadmap (immagine seguente).
Sono un giocatore di Splinterlands da più di due anni e non è la prima volta che gli assets del gioco di Splinterlands perdono valore e infatti in passato ci sono state diverse oscillazioni di valore degli assets di Splinterlands. Ad esempio quando è stata rilasciata la collezione Untamed c'erano solo due assets (DEC e NFT) e in quella circostanza le carte della collezione Beta hanno avuto una perdita di valore per poi riprendere quel valore e successivamente lo hanno anche superato. La stessa e identica cosa è successa con il rilascio della collezione Chaos Legion.
Ad esempio nel mese di giugno 2020 alcuni giocatori che avevano collezioni di carte di grande valore hanno messo in vendita le loro carte a prezzi davvero bassi. Forse in quel momento pensavano che Splinterlands avesse toccato il suo apice oppure semplicemente avevano altri obiettivi di investimento ma penso che oggi si stiano pentendo di quella decisione.
Proprio in quel periodo ho approfittato dei prezzi molto bassi e ho acquistato molte carte della collezione Beta e mi sono focalizzato soprattutto sull'acquisto delle carte di tipo evocatore.
Ad esempio il 26 giugno ho pubblicato un post in cui ho condiviso la mia decisione di investire perchè le carte avevano davvero un prezzo vantaggioso per me. **

Il 26 giugno 2020 ho acquistato l'evocatore Malric Inferno di livello 6 al prezzo di soli 21$**
In quel periodo purtroppo non avevo molta liquidità da investire nel gioco di Splinterlands ma tutti i miei acquisti si sono rivelati ottimi acquisti e ottimi investimenti.
Oggi Marlic Inferno di livello 1 ha un valore di mercato di 28.21$ mentre il valore di mercato più basso considerando il rapporto USD/BCX è di 8.696$

I token SPS: Valore e Considerazioni
Tra tutti gli assets di Splinterlands i token SPS** sono quelli che nell'ultimo periodo (18 ottobre 2021 - 4 gennaio 2022) hanno perso più valore in termini percentuali rispetto agli altri.
Il valore più alto è stato toccato il 28 luglio 2021: 1.1261$
Come spesso accade quando viene creato un nuovo token le aspettative sono molto alte e soprattutto c'è l'effetto FOMO che spinge il valore di un token in alto.
L'effetto FOMO dura generalmente molto poco e spesso segue una perdita di valore (DUMP) e infatti solo 7 giorni dopo, il 6 agosto 2021, il valore dei token SPS era di 0.2411$
Il 24 settembre 2021 Splinterland pubblica un post in cui annuncia il lancio della Prevendita della collezione Chaos Legion e introduce i token VOUCHER come requisito indispensabile per partecipare alla prevendita.
I token VOUCHER, distribuiti solamente ai possessori di token SPS, rappresentano anche un nuovo caso d'uso per i token SPS. In genere più casi d'uso ha un token e più il suo valore aumenta e infatti il valore dei token SPS passa da un valore di 0.2741$ (24 settembre) a un valore di 0.3549$ in meno di 24 ore (25 settembre 2021).
Da quel momento l'andamento del valore dei token SPS continua tendenzialmente a salire e 7 giorni prima dell'inizio della prevendita i token SPS valevano 0.9526$ (11 ottobre 2021)
Nei giorni successivi ci sono state delle oscillazioni di valore e il primo giorno della prevendita (18 ottobre 2021) i token SPS avevano un valore di 0.8982$
Dopo il 18 ottobre 2021 il valore dei token SPS ha iniziato una graduale discesa fino a toccare il suo valore più basso di sempre, il 29 dicembre 2021: 0.1767$
Il 29 dicembre Splinterlands ha pubblicato un post di aggiornamento sulla Roadmap dei token SPS e il valore dei token SPS riprende a salire fino al valore di 0.237$.
Oggi 4 gennaio 2021 il valore di 1 token SPS è di 0.2187$
Il valore attuale dei token SPS è la conseguenza della progressiva perdita dei casi d'uso. Durante la prevendita i token SPS:
- erano utili per ottenere i token VOUCHER che avevano un valore molto alto Il primo giorno della prevendita 1 token VOUCHER valeva 29-30 SWAP.HIVE
- potevano essere utilizzati per avere uno sconto del 10% sull'acquisto dei pacchi di carte Chaos Legion
- se messi in staking garantivano un APR molto più alto rispetto ad oggi
Oggi i token SPS permettono ancora di ricevere i token VOUCHER e lo permetteranno anche in futuro ma il valore dei token VOUCHER è molto più basso rispetto alla prevendita: 1.68 SWAP.HIVE = 2.71$
Ogni volta che è stato annunciato o introdotto un nuovo caso d'uso per i token SPS c'è stato un successivo aumento di valore e quindi era possibile fare operazioni di trading sui token SPS per ottenere dei profitti.
Io però non sono un trader e da quando è iniziato l'airdrop dei token SPS ho sempre messo tutti i miei token SPS in staking. Fino ad oggi ho accumulato un totale di 17642 token SPS
Continuo a seguire la mia strada da Holder e ho fissato anche un obiettivo che vorrei raggiungere per i token SPS prima della fine dell'airdrop: almeno 50000 token SPS.
Come annunciato nel post pubblicato da @splinterlands il 29 dicembre 2021, i token SPS avranno molti casi d'uso in futuro e nel corso del 2022:

Ovviamente le mie sono solo valutazioni personali ma quando verranno introdotti i casi d'uso annunciati da Splinterlands e quando l'airdrop dei token SPS terminerà il valore dei token SPS potrebbe aumentare.

La mia strategia di acquisto relativa ai token SPS.

Fino a quando il valore dei token SPS rimarrà sotto il valore di 0.25$ acquisterò token SPS ad intervalli regolari per raggiungere il mio obiettivo di acquisto di almeno 50000 token SPS.
Inoltre quando inizierà la general sale della collezione Chaos Legion cercherò di acquistare almeno 1000 pacchi di carte Chaos Legion e il mio acquisto mi permetterà di aumentare il mio punteggio per l'airdrop dei token SPS e di conseguenza dovrei anche aumentare il quantitativo di token SPS che riceverò giornalmente dall'airdrop.
Ovviamente le mie sono solo personali valutazioni e non sono consigli finanziari.
