Last week, @gadrian posted an interesting question - What Do You Imagine Yourself Doing on Hive in 2030?

That question piqued my interest. Not only did it inspire a little navel gazing in me but it raised up the question of 'where will Hive be in 2030'? 8 years is a long time in crypto and a long time in global politics.

Assuming that HBD has become the stablecoin that many dream it will be, I'll still be here blogging away. Of course, by then I'll be blogging from a climate shelter or somewhere further South.

To be frank and up front, I don’t think that Hive will be anywhere useful if it stays pegged to the USD. The further away we get from that, the better we will all be as the Empire crumbles before our eyes. My hope is that it will be one of those algorithmic stable coins and not pegged to anything as useless as currency. Maybe the Ruble, as that seems to be going down the path of being gold backed.

With climate change 'everything change' hitting us faster and harder than many comprehend it being possible, many of us may be in mobile shelters and climate refugee camps and internet may not be an option. Assuming that I am one of the lucky ones who have made their fortune on Hive before the worst of it all hits and I have internet connection, I hope that I am still writing and blogging helpful, sustainable (though that word is rapidly becoming a joke) information about growing your own food and making your own tech, just as I am now but with a much greater sense of urgency.

I think though, that I will be writing more about adaptation to a new world, new ecologies and new economies. The more agile minded of us are already picking up on work that needs to be done at a personal and community level as the shocks and losses hit folks hard.

I will, of course, have invested much of my Hive earnings into coffee and coffee research. Coffee is a most valuable commodity that will be negatively affected by a rapidly heating climate. It is quite sensitive in its environmental needs and things are not as simple as moving plantations to more suitable areas. The coffee genome has been published as open source material so that anyone can research its ins and outs and hopefully come up with an option or two. Until then, it will become scarcer and more expensive. Short sighted folks see oil as being that which drives our the modern world but I ask 'what drives the drivers'? Maybe amphetamines make their way into this mix but lets stay on the right side of the law for now...

With internet, coffee and plenty of HBD stablecoin, I'll be set, though a tad warmer than I am now. If pundits are correct, my wife will have much more money than me, as women are predicted to hold most of the wealth by 2030. I'll also be backing many social enterprises in Africa, which is predicted to have the highest growth rate of any continent in terms of population, wealth and adaptation to technology. Interestingly, this has been made possible by the fact that much of Africa has skipped landlines, banks and desktop computers and is rapidly adopting decentralization in both finances and technology through widespread adoption of crypto. Once the 3D printer becomes cheap enough there to be feasible as a tool for local manufacturing businesses there, they'll leave the rest of us behind! I might even physically move there and write about it all.

Where do you think you will be in 2030?
