As someone that found himself in a position having to turn large amounts of HBD into Euros for the proposals I had, I can say that one of the biggest obstacles for the DAO and HBD as a stablecoin was an obvious lack of liquidity.
You had bittrex that half of the time doesnt work, with massive spreads. The best place for HBD trading being Upbit but even there you could expect to lose 3-10% on trades.
The internal market was most consistent because it maintained a somewhat close 1$ trade to Hive if you used Binance (HBD-HIVE-USDT) as the final destination and you had the patience to trade in increments of 50 USD. I did once. Took me about 3 hours to trade away 5000 HBD.

Before APR increase on HBD savings HBD was a mostly pointless "hanger-on" for Hive.
A lot of us simply wanted to get rid of it since it overcomplicated the whole system for newcomers. APR increase changed a lot of things.

POLYCUB:

A few issues with the LP being the rewards coming in the form of Polycub. Polycub rewards are locked for 3 months before you can take them out. If you claim before, you lose 50% of the rewards.
Khal is expecting the APR to drop to 30% eventually on Polycub.

At that point I would say that for an individual investor its far smarter to stick to holding your HBD in savings for a guaranteed 20% APR paid in HBD (stable) instead of waiting 3 months to claim a volatile asset like Polycub that might be worth $0 in 3 months.

That being said, I think the liquidity pool has massive value for #hive but the reward incentive for individual LP providers just isnt there. (At least wont be in a few weeks/days) I would say that the DAO, for situations like these is something we should be utilizing.

When an action has a beneficial effect on the whole of Hive but does not maximize the benefit for the individual.

The trust in Polycub is a different thing altogether.

Anyways.. Im happy the witnesses went this direction and even if I dont think its financially sound for individual investors to put their HBD in the Polycub LP instead of Hive savings I want to say to those that do, that I appreciate them. ๐Ÿ˜‰๐Ÿ‘
