The gift that keeps on giving

Another hectic Splinterlands season has come to an end, and this one was probably the most rewarding season I've had since I started grinding the game. As promised, this time around I managed to make it into Gold II by renting an Elemental Phoenix on the last day of the season, in order to take advantage of my relatively high rating and score even more Silver chests.

I spent 2,000 DEC or roughly $1.3 to rent that bad boy for just a day, but it was more than enough time for me to score another 16 Silver chests, increasing my loot for the season by approximately 42%. I also managed to score 11 focus chests on the last day of the season, and bagged some nice Rare NFTs in the process. As good as it gets.

The best part is that I get to start the next season directly from the Silver III tier, plus all my focus and season chests will contain Gold level rewards. Can't wait.

I've said it before and I will say it again: the new rewards system has made the game a thousand times more interesting, enabling players to earn more and better rewards by putting in that extra effort needed. I'm self-employed, working from home all day long, and therefore, I've been able to maximize my Splinterlands earnings by hitting that 'Battle' button way too often and burning my Capture Rate to the ground. I guess you can't have it all.

That said, this doesn't seem to be that much of an issue as far as I'm concerned, as the value of the reward NFTs I've been earning definitely makes up for the amount of DEC lost due to my low Capture Rate. I'm currently grinding at 30% and I still only need to bag a few wins in order to claim another focus or season chest. If the team decides to implement mechanisms that would enable players to replenish their capture rate in exchange for DEC or SPS, that would definitely make things a lot more interesting.

Just imagine what that would mean for the economy of the game if said amounts of DEC and SPS were burned and completely removed from circulation. That would be a powerful loop the way I see it.

Season Chests Breakdown

My loot consists of Common and Rare NFTs, as well as DEC and potions. Those 26 Reward NFTs do not add significant value to my Collection Power, but are more than welcome anyway and also helped me level up some fillers. Not bad at all.

  • 1,806 DEC
  • 8 Alchemy Potions
  • 3 Legendary Potions
  • 20 Common NFTs
  • 6 Rare NFTs

Total market value of DEC: $1.17 Total market value of NFTs: $0.4 Total burn value of NFTs: 220 DEC Collection Power added: 220

Yes, things could have been much better, no doubt about that. No Epic, Legendary or Gold Foils of any sort for me whatsoever, but I'm still happy that I can build up my deck at a relatively high pace. The good thing is I'm set for Gold level rewards for the following couple of weeks, but I'm afraid I will have to rent some Alpha NFTs again in order to make the most of the situation. I might even try to infiltrate the Diamond Leagues and see where this takes me.

Once again, I wish I could just trade my potions for anything, as I won't be using them any time soon. I will definitely buy and stack more Chaos Legion packs as I believe they will gain significant resale value in the future, but I still prefer to avoid opening packs. The market is full of cheap, powerful Chaos Legion NFTs, and I always try to take luck out of the equation.

Final Thoughts

Long story short, this was probably my best season so far, and it looks like the next one will be even better. Splinterlands is primed for success, and I know for a fact that I will be around to reap the rewards when the time comes.

What about you?
