I cant believe its been over a year passed on a journy to get our own home, a lot has changed and alot has been accomplished - yet many hurdles still to be covered.

Firstly I have been working 60 hour weeks at work for the past 3 months to raise as much funds as possible, secondly we have had an offer accepted on a flat for 165000 GBP!

We are in the final stages of mortgage application, our finances have been checked and the lender is going to value the property next week, due to our high deposit of over £40000 as long as it isnt worth less than 125k we should be good to go.

All hinges on the mortgage getting the final stamp of approval and then the seller not deciding to cancel as until contracts are signed either party can do that with no penalty!

This time next month we could be in our own home.

Its not perfect, its a leasehold property with a maintinence charge of 1200 per year, but the mortgage repayments and the maintinence charge is still LESS than renting the same property costs.

Our mortgage is a fixed rate at 2.59% for ten years. During this time of high inflation and rising interests I felt this was the only way to go.
