Introduction
Cryptocurrency is by far the runaway leader among topics people write about at LeoFinance, and that's no surprise. It's perhaps the main reason we came to Hive blockchain via LeoFinance.
So much is written about cryptocurrency here, we tend to forget about the finance aspect of LeoFinance. After all, we're at LeoFinance, not LeoCrypto.
Without knowing anything about finance, we can ape into a post to publish at LeoFinance. That's how broad the umbrella term "finance" is at LeoFinance. For people who post elsewhere and only occasionally publish as post which qualifies for LeoFinance, that's not a concern. Neither is it a short-term concern. However, in the long-term, it leaves us vulnerable to Writer's Block, and we don't have time to deal with that.
We won't always be that lucky, so we need to be more systematic in how we find content to write about. Finding a niche where we are considered experts helps a great deal. Even without having a niche, we should still be more systematic in how we find topics to write about. This 3-part post will cover 3 ways to find either a niche or a topic we can call our own.
3 Ways To Find a Niche or Topic
If you already have a background in Finance, you're done! Just engage, post, then engage some more. Also, if you see gaps in left open in this post, feel free to fill in the gaps with your suggestions in the comments.
Based on comments I've made in numerous posts, these are the 3 ways or approaches we can use to find our niche or topic: π Definitional π π List πΊοΈ Intersectional
Nothing is etched in stone, and we can combine these ways to generate more niches or topics. Over the course of this 3-part post will be explanations for each approach listed. Let's start with the Definition Approach.
π Definition: What is Finance?
Just to provide a point of reference, below is the "Key Takeaways" section near the top of the "Finance" page at Investopedia.com:
KEY TAKEAWAYS
- Finance is a term broadly describing the study and system of money, investments, and other financial instruments. Finance can be divided broadly into three distinct categories: public finance, corporate finance, and personal finance. More recent subcategories of finance include social finance and behavioral finance. The history of finance and financial activities dates back to the dawn of civilization. Banks and interest-bearing loans existed as early as 3000 BC. Coins were being circulated as early as 1000 BC. While it has roots in scientific fields, such as statistics, economics, and mathematics, finance also includes non-scientific elements that liken it to an art.
At LeoFinance, "Finance" Is an Umbrella Term |
---|
Using only the above description of finance, most of us can find topics to write about to publish at LeoFinance. |
But let's suppose these topics are too intimidating or too broad. That just means we need to get more focused in finding a topic which calls out to us so we can write about it. And that means we drill down until we reach something we can write about.
Consider this example:
Finance βΆοΈ Personal Finance βΆοΈ Lifehacks βΆοΈ Buying and Selling World Coins for Profit
"Finance is too broad a term, but I'm a person and not a company; I'll focus on Personal Finance. The topic is still too broad, so I'll focus on my own finance. What I do is more of a lifehack than a financial strategy. This lifehack involves buying and selling world coins for profit, and it worked for me a few times. This is a post I can write."
-- A hypothetical situation
Although personal finance is strategic in nature, it can be handled in tactical ways until a strategy can be developed or evolved. This is how the lifehack ties into personal finance, and therefore as a post topic for LeoFinance.
Bottom Line for Definition
We start with the definition of "finance" before we narrow it down enough to where we have a topic about which we can write. While a broader topic provides us with options, using a particular niche or topic allows us to write about it in greater detail.
