It's more common than we realize, too.

Developers could have an account for each project they work on just to make it easier to track their activity.

Just as common is a class of Hivers who have separate account for the tribes in which they are very involed. Many of these look like ["@"hiver.leo], ["@"hiver.pob], etc. Since each account is independent, some will have lesser wallet balances than others.

While some Hivers have multiple accounts based on tribal activity, there are Hivers who have multiple accounts for functional reasons: one for posting, one for engaging, etc. "@"magnacarta is my main account, and I use @magnacarta.buzz mainly to promote content at the main account.

One other use of multiple accounts which makes sense is separation of business from personal activity. One Hive account is for the small business or enterprise, another is for social activity such as blogging or gaming.

Sadly, there are accounts set up for less-than-legitimate purposes. Every platform has them, no matter how well-known or little-known the platform is. Many people outside Hive think of this situation when they hear about so-and-so having multiple accounts.

For people who are unsure about having nultiple Hive accounts, think of it this way: as long as you're upfront with people about why the other accounts exist, there is no problem with that.
