In my last post, I talked about what we really means about what we mean by mobility of labour and I also talked about the two types of mobility of labour we have which is occupational and geographical mobility of labour.

Geographical mobility as a type of mobility of labour plays one of the most vital role in the economic development of a Nation. Let's look it this way, the spread of industries for example and institutions also to the different parts and location of the Nation, is well stimulated when there is an existence of a high degree of the geographical mobility of labour in the country.

Now without the Geographical of mobility of labour in place, it will be quite difficult for it to take place. Not only that, a high degree of the geographical mobility could also help in reducing the level of unemployment.

If there is an effecient system if geographical of mobility of labour in a country, it will help to reduce the level of unemployment and at the same time in turn increase the level of employment.

Another advantage of the geographical mobility of labour is that it also helps in minimising labour surpluses and also the shortage as labour is moving from one areas of surplus to another area of shortages thereby spreading the labour all around the country.

It also help to create a single labour market, and by doing that, it could help in narrowing the disparities between the rural and also the urban prices and reduces the wage differentials for comparable skills. Geographical mobility as a Labour also help in the role of promoting the structural transformation of the economy.

It also helps in promoting the national and international integration, for example let's say by facilities exchange of ideas, promoting mutual understanding and promoting both the political and socio-economic interactions.

As we have discussed about the advantages of geographical mobility of labour, we should not live out the adverse effect of uncontrolled geographical movement of labour as it can produce adverse effects of rural-urban drift, urbanisation and also over concentration of industries in few localities.
