Good evening from the land down under all I hope you've been well I'm seeing alot of new people joining which is great, don't be put off by the dip you'll get accustomed to it. If you're like me you'll end up buying and there is no good or bad time.

There's been a few How to Hive posts popping up lately and they're good you can read a really good one by @steevc here which covers a lot of good dos and do nots. I agree with most of it but I feel there is alot missing and doesn't capture the full extend of the block chain. It also leaves out that most people will be disconnected from each other and being accustomed to mainstream sites I.e. Facebook will be in that bubble.

If you're like me, I've been on the block chain since 2017, didn't engage much had no idea about discord or the extent it was being used, got bugger all upvotes for the first two years and it wasn't until lock down got me bored that I went on a deep dive and found an entire ecosystem of awesome people.

Best Advice

My first advice is probably the most important, all else you hear, read or do is irrelevant. Buy Hive. It's a cryptocurrancy, it's not an airdrop it is still a block chain. Treat your blog like an investment or a start up business. I'm not sure how much people get charged in other countries but in Australia it will cost about $1000 a year to operate and run a website to blog on. I know this because I have one (it's been neglected for Hive but I'm still shilling out $1000 a year ontop of that there is Google g-suite and all the other bibs and bobs.

Do yourself a favour and buy the token don't expect upvotes, provide them. No other opportunity in the world will give you something for free Hive isn't any different.

My exchange pits me at 32,000 Hive I've purchased, where has it gone? NFI but buying Leo at 4 to 1. Buying tokens on Hive Exchange High selling low and jumping across all the time probably does that. Writing this post made me assess where I'm at and pick up on where I need to improve.

I also bought alot from my Aussie exchange to send across to Binance to buy BNB to get cub. I figured if I was going to buy a cryptocurrancy to send to Binance it might as well be Hive. Help make the price go up...... few thousand there...... don't tell the wife.

Downvotes

Don't get upset about downvotes I disagree with this statement and anyone who tells you they don't get upset about it if they cop it is full of it. You're allowed to get upset about it, post about it, let people know you're upset. Why not? It's akin to getting punched in the face and being told "don't get upset about it or else. Getting upset is a part of being human. Downvotes serve a purpose on the chain and they're needed. Do I agree with them? Personally no, well I didn't but I'm starting to learn abit more about them and I've seen some shady shit that I was obvious too previously so yes, they are needed.

Do people get trigger happy with them? I'd say yes errors are made at times but there is a reason for that. See the chain is currently hyper vigilant at the moment. Only a year ago a massive battle erupted. Rock, living under it, I was.

So while I was totally oblivious to the war that was raging I awoke one day entered discord and everyone was all like "power down Steem leggo to Hive" I was all like what? Hmm ok what evs. I recently read this in-depth article that explains what occured it's worth the read and it can be found
here

It's quite the traumatic experience and 12 months is no where near enough time to get over what occured on either side and remaining hyper vigilant is required as you never know when another pending hit could occur or if it ever will. But from what occured in the article people invested alot of cash and time fighting and winning for everyone and some epic friendships were developed. That trauma is still very real so be conscious that anything that's seen not in good faith of the chain will be a target and at times people will get it wrong, but move on. Resolve the matter and off we go.

Factions

Be aware there are factions on Hive, don't be put off there are factions everywhere in life. If you put 10 people in a room together factions will organically occur. That is what life is. Don't be fooled by decentralisation it is not a new concept the Greeks did it - Democracy, unions did it - power to the people instead of bosses - the French did it- French revolution- Star Wars did it - Darth Vadar - rebels etc. Eventually factions emerge and power plays happen.

As someone who does politics for a job, I come here for an escape from it all, not really an issue, don't really get involved with it. Let the politicians politics and we just blog.

But if you're looking for big upvotes find a faction that best sits with you and the content you want to produce and join it. Just like in real life as in Hive I don't do factions I just chill with everyone. I think that's how I got into politics to begin with. People were all like You do it, you fight with everyone equally that was 10 years ago and the rest is history.

Raping the reward pool

Now this one, I don't know too much about and still learning but there are old school peeps that get upset about this one. All I knew is I have resource credits and as long as they are able I can post. But some people got shitty about the amount I post which is like 1/10 of the amount I post on socials. I don't post seeking upvotes I just like posting and sharing stuff. Don't get me wrong the whole purpose we post is for the reward but it's also fun and it's fun creating content that people engage and comment on. I've met some awesome peeps and made friends, also pissed off others.

I've always found it odd though as all the well known peeps can easily make a few hundred on a post then you're getting smashed by some big peeps for raping the reward pool when you've got like $5 and they have $300. Whaaaa? I know right.

However, I personally found a happy medium I believe anyway. If I pop up a post and in the day I get close to $100 on my posts I won't post for the rest of the day and just wait until tomorrow. It is hard for me personally as I am in a fair few groups and I enjoy posting and engaging with those groups.

I also really enjoy @leofinance for me I found it a good group with great peeps but it's benefit to me is it was the reason why and how I learned about cryptocurrancy and also the role discord played and I've met some cool friends. I've also learned that there is fear on the block chain but I think I'm in a bit if a different boat. Hive is my side hussle. My business on the side and not my main bread and butter, yes I want to make it just like everyone else but it won't end me if I don't make it.

I gave up trying to make it and just started buying Hive and engaging the platform that way.

Have fun

Most importantly, just have fun. Don't focus on how much "rewards" you earn. Just post and engage. Billions of people are doing it everyday multiple times for free on Facebook and Facebook earns from it not the person. Don't make your time here soly about the rewards. You'll have a shit time. Make friends, write posts, share your dinner pictures, argue with people, agree with people and just don't be a dick.

I do acknowledge that I write this from a privileged position in life being an Aussie means I am not struggling to feed my family and many have turned to Hive and where $1 is loose change for me, that can feed a family in other parts of the globe.

Just remember the block chain and everyone in it owes you nothing so if you want to go down the business side of it, buy a bag full of Hive and don't worry about upvotes, you be the upvoter.

I hope this post has helped abit and I'd be interested in peoples thoughts and opinions. Feel free to get upset in the comments section. Like I said, I work in politics, nothing is more cut throat or ruthless on this earth than the political round. I don't get hurt feelings - do I crack it too? Fuck yeah, why not? It's a normal part of being human.

Peace out 🤞🏾
