Good afternoon everyone I trust you are well, I wanted to have another call out to @ecency and @leo.finance who this year have taken the block chain to another level. I've been using both platforms in conjunction with PEAKD and I have to admit they are leading in this space.

Today's post I will focus on Ecency followed up by a review of Leofinance in a following blog post as I believe these two wonderful initiatives deserve their own space.

What is Ecency? I first stumbled across ecency through the wonderful work by @melinda010100 and followed her advice into the platform and downloaded the dapp off the google play store. There is also an Apple version for IPhone users.

I believe Ecency is one of the more advanced communities which is why I have it listed along side Leo finance. But instead of having a native currency that you can buy into you have to earn it. I heard there is more work in the pipeline that will allow users to trade points but at current ecency allows you to use points for various things. Which in my opinion is a great alternative to an evergrowing market.

The points So what are the points and how do you earn them?

15 Points for a post using ecency
5 points for a comment
5 points for delegation
1 point for a reblog
1 point for 100% upvote
.250 points for scrolling and reading
10 Points for logging in You can also earn points through purchasing.

Also important to note that you can't spam posts as the dapp will reduce your points per post. Typically your first post of the day will earn full points. Also I've noticed posts need content. Less content means less points. I'm not sure how they monitor this but I'm guessing the dapp counts words.

Likewise with comments, proper comments will receive full 5 points where small once sentences don't really receive points. A great way to ensure good content is being created.

What can you do with points? Now here's the good thing I really enjoy and I think sets Ecency apart from the rest. You can use points to promote a post which will cost 150 points per day ensuring you reach more people and secure support.

Purchase upvotes, by boosting a post you can get an upvote from ecency. So far I think I've been using 300 points and it gets me a .12c upvote. I'm not sure what a full powered one gets as I am often promoting and boosting posts. I might build up my points and try it and report back.

This feature alone is a great asset for anyone and newbies who are trying to grow their accounts as it ensures they receive a decent upvote. You can also support your own supporters. I.e. I'll often get quite alot of 2 to 6c upvotes. Calling in an Ecency vote afterwards ensures they get a return on their upvote. (noting I will be calling in the ecency bot after this for a 12c upvote)

The other added feature that I like and will be using as I recently came into a bit of bother. Where I delegated all my hive out to community curation projects and was left with shrapnel. Ecency allows me to call in the ecency bot to upvote the bost provided it has been posted through ecency. The only reason why I haven't used it is because I am unsure on how to check if a post has been posted via ecency.

You can also pay to promote other people's posts.

In summary In Summary, Ecency is a great tool to have and be using on the hive blockchain and I would highly recommend it.

I do experience the odd lag and time out but there is also an online version you can log into which seems to run abit smoother at times. You can also change nodes which often helps.

I hope you have found this post informative, let me know in the comments section below and keep an eye out for the ecency upvote which I will be calling in in about 2 hrs time.
