I just received notice from Senator Nancy Skinner of the brand new budget that Newsom just passed.

Although I must admit that it is a little scary seeing how much money is going to renters assistance (people who didn't pay rent and will now have it forgiven, and homelessness (are we throwing money at the situation or coming up with "real" solutions"?) I am very happy to report that students are once again being put in the forfront.

Every California Student will now mean $21,000 towards the school budget.

Amongst other things, each California Student will receive two free meals per day, regardless of their income.

I must admit, it makes it a lot easier for us parents to know that all kids at the school will be well fed. This will make a huge impact in the classrooms.

Another thing I am very excited about is help for Foster Kids

Now foster children between the ages of 18-21 will be eligible to receive extra benefits.

I've seen first hand how devastating it can be for foster kids to turn 18, I am glad that they will have more help from now on.

Many of the benefits will not benefit my family directly

But I don't mind. I like that my tax dollars will be going to making life more comfortable for the neediest of our constituents.

Lets hope the money that is allocated is well spent.
