Security Measures I Take Online

Based on recent events, it’s been on top of my mind to take my security online up a notch. I ordered a Nano Ledger S device and it’s on the way. Google keep has been my go to app for saving most of my keys and it’s served me for the 4 years I’ve been in this space, it’s just so super easy to copy and paste keys from Google keep and that’s why I use it.

The only way my keys could be accessed is if someone grabs my phone and commits 48 hours to sifting through hundreds of note inside the app and because I know it’s not totally 100% impossible for my phone to get into someone’s hands, the onus is on me to take more precaution by hiding them inside notes of other notes.

Another way to get into my Google keep is if my gmail is hacked into and that’s going to take a lot of stress because of having to break through 2FA and I doubt that happening too. Other than these, I’ll have to be drugged or Google will have to get its servers blown for me to loose my saved notes, just saying....not being over confident.

But we all know that anything online is vulnerable to exploit and for this I have to take all my crucial keys offline which should have been done by the time this post goes live.

This one is not particularly a security measure but more like a precaution to help people from loosing their money to phishing accounts like Bittres, Bitrex, and the likes. I’ve been a victim of sending money to wrong accounts twice, have you ever needed to type deepcrypto8 and you typed deepcrypto or deepcrypto0 or something like that and lost that money forever?

Do you know it can be reversed at the point of initiating the transaction? Well yes, under certain circumstances. @deathwing encoded some parameters into his nodes so if you use his API, the parameters are set in a way that such transfers bounce back when they happen but ofcourse not all accounts can be blacklisted.

So if you know you sometimes have jittery fingers and you might fall into this error in mistyping certain account names then you might want to check this post out and change your API to
deathwings.

Simply go to settings in your Hive.blog, scroll down and click advanced settings. And select API.DEATHWING.ME and reset.

That’s it, you don’t have to do anything else. Super cool yeah! Click here to vote for his witness

So guys these have been my security measures over the time, I hope someone finds it useful.
