The Blockchain? Bah! A trip to 1995
Guess what, if you think the bull run is over and crypto has gone into a bear market you are absolutely right, if you think the bull run is not over, you are absolutely correct as well, it all depends on what youâre looking at. A lot of people are looking at the charts today but everyone is seeing different things, if you would ask me though, to be honest I see a bear market inside a bull run, maybe itâs because Iâm a permabull and quite rightly so, itâs hard to not be permanently bullish on a technology that has only a fraction of the worlds population using it.
Most are looking, but only few see
Imagine not knowing that the internet was going to be the backbone of every advanced economy in the world and failing to strategically position oneself to take advantage of being early..., ugly right? Well, it happened, not everyone embraced the internet early, rate of adoption grew over time, but for those that got around it early, they surely reaped the benefits. While writing this post, I decided to check out some information about the internet in its early days and I came about some very interesting stuff....
The internet? bah!
....Especially the excerpts from Clifford Stoll a renowned Engineer and astronomer. He wrote the following in 1995 that have today become aberrations.
After two decades online, I'm perplexed. It's not that I haven't had a gas of a good time on the Internet. I've met great people and even caught a hacker or two. But today, I'm uneasy about this most trendy and oversold community. Visionaries see a future of telecommuting workers, interactive libraries and multimedia classrooms. They speak of electronic town meetings and virtual communities. Commerce and business will shift from offices and malls to networks and modems. And the freedom of digital networks will make government more democratic. Baloney.
For the record, Baloney means - foolish or nonsense talk....lol
Do our computer pundits lack all common sense? The truth is no online database will replace your daily newspaper, no CD-ROM can take the place of a competent teacher and no computer network will change the way government works.
Then there's cyberbusiness. We're promised instant catalog shoppingâjust point and click for great deals. We'll order airline tickets over the network, make restaurant reservations and negotiate sales contracts. Stores will become obselete. So how come my local mall does more business in an afternoon than the entire Internet handles in a month? Even if there were a trustworthy way to send money over the Internetâwhich there isn'tâthe network is missing a most essential ingredient of capitalism: salespeople.
25 Years later
Well, itâs 25 years later, look at where we are. A world without the internet has become Baloney, in fact the world has moved past establishing the internet as modus operandi, weâve moved past becoming everything that has been said to be foolish talk. Now we are 10years into another evolution borne of the internet, the blockchain and some people are being âCliff Stollâ all over again. Itâs funny isnât it.
Bitcoin broke $30k to the downside today and some people have started to claim that Bitcoin is dead for the upteenth time, who can blame them, many are looking, but only few see. The entire crypto market screams of accumulation, sadly there are hardly any easy ways to accumulate them other than to buy and now theyâre at a discount, but people are complaining or sad or whatever.
I wish I had a wad of cash to add to my positions, Iâm just super thankful that Hive gives people the opportunity to earn it and grow a position in the future of decentralized media. Thereâs nothing like Hive out there, just like those who discovered the internet early had a lot to benefit from it, itâll be the same for those who are active on Hive and itâs other derivatives, Bitcoin and other legit crypto projects early.
Seeing all of these and looking at where we are coming from, how do I not be a permabull? But like I said, most are looking, but only a few see.
Thanks for reading.
