Consistency is a gain on its own

Since joining Hive in the month of May, yesterday marked the first month I went through without failing to post on the platform in a day. It also marked the fourth week of consistently posting to the platform everyday. A screenshot from @hivebuzz activity board would help

Though I have mentioned in about two posts here, that posting on the platform, at least once everyday of the month of august, was a resolution to me, I nevertheless didn't try posting anything just to keep up with a self-induced resolution.

To the best of my ability, I tried maintaining a standard.

Lengthy posts might not be an indicator of quality, but they however show that the author put in some work and was thorough in his submission.

Non of the post I made was less than five hundred words. Some even contained over a thousand word and some were close to it.

Prior to the month of August, I was swamped with so much work offline, such that I couldn't post articles nor engage here as much as I would have loved to.

As a school teacher August is always a long holiday in my country. It's that period were school teachers can decide to pick a training, study for another degree, study for a professional certificate or just rest their tired legs.

Being an elocutionist, I do put up professional training for teachers and other people who want to understand the International phonetics Alphabet and its proper application. The last time I did that was in 2019 before the lockdown. It wasn't possible in year 2020 since physical meeting was forbidden.

Below is the flyer of the last training.

Though other countries are on a lockdown as we speak, movement have been eased in Nigeria. There might be few restrictions here and there, like social distancing and compulsory use of facemask, which people hardly adhere to, but physical meetings are not totally prohibited here.

So I had the opportunity to put up my lucrative training again, but I decided to rest from actively teaching for a month. I rather opted for the exploration of other areas of interest. And on top of the list was writing and learning of crypto. Hive offered me both. So I concentrated more on Hive in the month of August. Hence the little feat I recorded.

Consistency is a big deal to me, such that if I engage in a venture and I find out that I didn't gain much at the end of the day, I will yet be happy that I was consistent.

While it is true that we remain consistent to gain on the long run, consistency on its own is a great gain.

We all know that actions have the potential of turning into habits and eventually into a character, so if we act consistently, we will be inculcating in us the habit of being consistent. If a venture we were consistent with didn't pay us, the same habit of consistency which we have built overtime, when applied in another venture will eventually yield the desired result.

So I've never regretted staying consistent to what I love.

This post would've been an I-did-it kind of post. Somewhat of congratulatory note, but a lengthy post I read earlier in leofinance community by @tarazkp spoilt my party.

Oh my goodness! This gentleman has consistently made a post on the platform, every day of the week since mid 2017 till date.

Wow! What a feat!

Interestingly, while trying to confirm his username in the course of making this post, I reverted to the comment I made on his post earlier in the day, only to see that he replied my comment with a perspective on consistency that is so similar to what I earlier said about consistency in this write-up.

After this week I wanted to go back to posting once, twice or thrice a week, but right now I'm like; if someone could be consistent for four years, why can't I attempt a year?

In lieu of self congratulation, I'm called for a bigger challenge.

Final words

  • Don't only mingle with mediocres, look out for those who would challenge you to be better.

  • What does not challenge you, would not change you.

  • You can't be better if nothing challenges you.
