I have always hated it when my enemy wins because of fatigue. Despite, a lot of matches that I have seen proved that it is an effective strategy. In this battle, I will be sharing a match that I won without directly hurting my enemy.

STRATEGY TIME

MATCH DETAILS

This match was fought with an Odd Ones Out ruleset. The mana cap to build our team is 23, and we can use most Splinters except Life and Earth Splinters in this match.

As you can see, this is a very odd lineup. So why did I do this?

Well, it was mainly a product of desperation. At that time, I only rented high level cards for Life Splinter, along with some dragon and neutral monsters. With 13 mana cap, there is very limited that I can do. So I figured: why not play with fatigue?

Summoner: Byzantine Kitty As much as I hate how expensive it is to rent this cute Summoner, all the buffs that it gives are just too awesome not to grab. Since I don't have much of a choice in this post, I definitely went with Kitty! The idea is that I'll just adjust the monsters for this match.

Position 1: Furious Chicken Two reasons: Filler and Scavenger. If I want a decent chance for my Cube to win this match, I need to boost my Scavenger with as much as I can. Unfortunately, Chicken is all that I can add due to the mana cap.

Position 2: Gelatinous Cube Have you ever tried fighting a Llama Kron combo? That's the idea that I was trying to go with here! The main downside of this alternative is that I don't have Cleanse and cube doesn't deal any damage. But heck, I'll just hope that two heals will be enough.

MATCH RESULTS AND VERDICT

The most important winning condition for me in this match is the total heal of Kitty and Cube is equal or greater than the damage that my opponent's monsters do each round.

Let us see if we are lucky enough to meet this condition!

At Round 1, we can see that the maximum total damage that our Cube can get in each Round is 7. One damage from chicken, then 3 damage each from Haunted Spirit and Jester. Now let's take a look at our Cube. Because of Cube's 13 maximum health, each heal regenerates 4 health (13/3, rounded down = 4).

Heal Ability mechanics

This means that Cube will be healing at least 8 health (2x heal, 1 each from Kitty and Cube) all throughout the match. Luckily, our opponent did not have a monster with affliction on its side. If it had, for sure our Cube won't last even just until Round 10!

By the end of Round 27, fatigue already did its thing and we won the match. That was a long match, but it's quite fulfilling to win without attacking.

Match Conclusion

After winning this match, I was pretty satisfied with my decision of relying on fatigue to deal damage to my enemy. It was a decision that came out of desperation, given that I had very limited choices in this match. With 13 mana cap and having only Kitty as my available levelled Summoner, I am already down to just 6 mana for my monsters.

I did not expect to win this match. It had a number of winning conditions to win. Good thing it worked! It is a good lesson for me to still think of strategies on how I can win a match -- even with limited resources available.

There you have it! I hope you enjoyed this match. In case you missed the previous replay link, click HERE to watch Kitty and Cube in action.
