All the money in the world is useless if you are unhealthy and unhappy. Often people assume that having money will fix all of our problems. However, time and time again, we see that this is not the case. Rich and poor people both struggle with depression, health issues, procrastination, and much more. Having money is simply not enough. That is where your daily habits come in.

These habits are made to help improve your overall life. That being said, many of these changes have resulted in better financial situations and improvements for many. Although many of these seem simple, we understand how difficult changing our habits can be. I hope that this helps you to begin your journey towards improving your overall well being.

  • Long term and short term goals.

One of the most essential aspects of a happier, healthier, and more productive life is setting short and long-term goals. When we set goals for ourselves, it creates an explicit purpose. Instead of saying, "I want to lose weight," Say, "I will lose x amount of weight by this time." This seems like a simple change, but the impact is staggering. Without setting specific goals, we are left to wander aimlessly, never knowing what we are fully working towards. By setting short term goals, we have small steps to help us achieve our overall long term goals without being so intimidated. With these goals, you should also take note of your current situation or starting position. It can be easy to lose sight of how far we have come during our changes, and having something to look back on helps track your progress.

  • Exercise.

This should be no surprise that one of the easiest and most effective ways of improving our physical and mental health is exercise! This does not need to be a crazy hour-long work out each time or anytime for that matter. What is important is that you are active. This could be a walk, jog, yard work, playing with the kids, whatever it is, as long as you are up and moving.

  • Watch what you eat.

Our diets influence the way we look and feel more than many understand or care to admit. Ever wonder why you're feeling so tired every afternoon? Or why you always seem to feel bloated? It could be something you're eating or drinking. Start to look at your diet and exactly what you have been eating daily. If by chance you are having stomach issues, acne, gas, etc., start by taking out a particular food group or item you feel could be the issue and see how you feel.

  • Get proper sleep.

Again, pretty straight forward right? Well, why do so many struggle with it then? A few answers are technology. Much of the devices we use have what you might often hear as a "blue light" that can strain our eyes. This has been proven to cause issues with sleeping. Instead of scrolling through your phone or watching tv before bed, why not read, write, draw, or whatever interests you outside of technology. This will help you by getting more time towards your hobby of enjoyment and improving your sleep schedule.

  • Learn, learn, and learn more.

Life is about improving ourselves and learning. Whatever it is that interests you, go for it. You think guitar is cool? Sign up for some lessons or practice using YouTube. Want to improve your financials? Start buying investment and financial-based books to learn more for yourself. The point is that there is power in knowledge. Use that power for your benefit.

  • There is power in your thoughts.

This is the most significant aspect of improving your overall life, in my opinion. What we think becomes our reality. No one successful wakes up with the mindset of "I am not capable." or "I can't do this." Instead, you need to have belief in yourself and your goals no matter what. If you do not believe in yourself or your goals, how do you expect the universe too? One way to utilize this power is through the repetition of thoughts and phrases. Set a plan, and repeat this daily as if you have already achieved it. Focus on how good it feels to have that goal met already. Do this every day, morning and night. I promise you, putting the energy and belief into this practice will give you outstanding results. If you are looking for further proof of this method, I suggest you read "Think and Grow Rich" By Napoleon Hill.

  • Be consistent.

Finally, you need to be consistent in these practices. Sure we all have bad days, and sometimes we are off. However, once that bad day is done, do not let it become a bad week. Each day is new and should bring with it a fresh excitement to improve.

These changes may seem simple, but that does not mean they are invaluable. Little progress is still progress. You will not change overnight, and it is not fair to yourself to think that you need to. Start by making the changes that you are comfortable with or can. Remember, no one succeeds by telling themselves they are incapable. I believe in you, and I hope you learn to believe in yourself as much. Thank you for reading, and if you are interested in reading more, please follow the blog for daily posts.
