Leadership is a continuum. It is more a relay race than a sprint. The greatest act of leadership is mentorship. As a leader, there is a need to tutor your followers in preparation to take up the position of leadership, without which leadership can become obsolete.

Mature people, or rather, leaders, who would create (produce) greater leaders than themselves are said to be very few in organizations. Hence, wherever you find yourself as a team lead or you act in any capacity as leader, do well to influence people positively.

As a leader, do not forget that as the day passes, so you approach old age and may become weak to take some necessary actions, some may even die as they grow each day, hence the need to prepare a replacement for yourself, who will take over the baton.

A successful leader without a successor is a failure. Therefore, we should begin a preparation procedure to produce a good leader.

Your greatest gift to the world is your mentee (the ine who studies leadership qualities through you). Great leaders around the world have people they breed to take after them. You too should begin.

A good leader does not need to hunt for followers. The leadership trait you exhibit as a leader would be a defining factor of whom to follow you. So, up to your game by reading good literature to improve your leadership qualities.

TIPS ON LEADERSHIP

• Leadership is measured by the success of the successor.

• No matter how great you are, if you fail to produce a successor, you are a failure,

• To preserve what you have built, you must have a mentee.

• Leadership is not a sprint, it is a relay.

• Don't be jealous when you produce a greater leader than you are.

• You are a great leader when your people don't need you to excel.

• You are a successful leader when the leaders you produce can lead others.
