My experience during the Hive Punk investment brought to mind how much the investment environment has changed nowadays.

Before crypto, the main investment alternatives were real estate, gold, deposits, stocks, mutual funds, and bonds. The main expectation was to transfer the value of money into the future or, at best, to achieve a net annual return of 5%-10%.

New generation investors are chasing coins that will make 10x annually. In exchange for this expectation of return, they can tolerate their savings falling by half or a third, as occurred in May this spring.

What I find interesting is that investment and fun are intertwined. About six months ago, I took a look at the Splinterlands game and bought a pack of alpha cards to find out what was done and how. Because of the intensity of my work, my Splinterlands adventure didn't last long. Last week, by chance, I came across a piece of information about the SPS airdrop. I entered the corresponding application and, I realized that I was entitled to a $120 airdrop. Then I discovered while using the Beeswap application the Alpha package I had was worth 690 USD. I don't remember how much I spent on the Alpha pack. It was such a low amount that it didn't leave any traces in my mind.

As a matter of fact, my acquaintance with Hive also happened as a result of an airdrop. After producing content extensively on Steemit in 2018 and 2019, I turned to my literary work. When I saw the rising crypto prices in January of this year, I turned to Steemit and started writing again. One night, while I was lying on the couch opposite the TV in my pajamas, I saw the comment that @damla wrote on my Steemit post. She stated that a new environment called Hive was established 1 year ago, and I could log in there with my Steemit passwords. When I got into the environment she pointed out, I realized that I had about $3,000 worth of assets in Hive. For the first time in my life, I won $3,000 when I was in my pajamas.

All these good events allowed me to make up for the loss of my Steem investment with terrible timing, but I didn't make a remarkable profit until last week. Having the courage to buy 100 units from Hive Punks was important, because, besides many valuable punks, I also owned one of two mummies, which has a rarity score of 5332.

The intertwining of investment and entertainment is partly due to the difference in understanding between generations. Examples such as Hive Punks and Splinterlands have shown that money can be made while having fun. I don't think anyone will give up this opportunity from now on.

Another feature of the new generation of investments is that we are buying digital products. Many of us still find it strange to pay money for digital images that can be easily copied. And we are trying to get used to the idea of buying a land NFT instead of land with physical existence.

Things like artworks that generate rental income, businesses executed in metaverses surprise people who are not crypto-related. It is as if we have entered Alice's Wonderland and they are watching us from the outside.

Of course, not everything is rosy in this land. We are in an environment where fraudsters are skilled as master programmers. In this new world, we are not able to delegate investment choices or security to others. Trends are changing rapidly, constant threats and opportunities are emerging.

The crypto world has a dizzying dynamism. We meet people who have similar interests beyond the money earned or lost, and we are constantly learning new things.

I care about being in the game in the crypto world. I wouldn't have been able to join Hive if haven't been involved in Steemit. If I didn't participate in Hive, I wouldn't have known about Splinterlands or Hive Punks. Organizing into communities and sharing information allows us to take more confident steps in this brave new investainment environment.

Thank you for reading.
