It's been well over 1 year since the drama that forced us to split away from the steem blockchain. I took my emotions aside and decided to transfer only a portion of my steem into Hive and leave the rest in there. No one was sure of the future of either blockchain so playing both sides was the safest bet even though I was leaning way more towards Hive.

Published posts on both blockchains for a while but at a certain point, it became clear that Hive was my home. All the most successful and useful projects eventually fully migrated away from steem and I followed. The only thing holding me back was wasting all my SBI shares. I recently found out that there was a way to transfer them over to Hive. With nothing keeping me on steem I decided to pull the plug on my Delegations and start the 100% power down process.

Steem Dlease APR's

It's hard to walk away from the 30%+ APR's but there's no point in earning good APRs on a project I no longer believe in. I don't know how steem can hold its price over Hive, but I believe it won't sustain its lead for much longer.

I spent 1-year harvesting steem from Dlease and I'm glad I did because the price of steem has increased a lot since then and allowed me to sell some of those liquid rewards at over $1 a steem.

What am I converting it into?

In my recent post about CUB being able to pay my rent in 2022, I took a look at the numbers and concluded that I would need to buy some more CUB-BUSD LP tokens to achieve this.
That's where most of my leftover steem has been flowing into. I believe the return I will get from CUB will be far superior to the 30% from Dlease.

The final Power Down

It was a good run, and that summary doesn't account for all my gains since some of them came from Splinterlands (Steem Monsters back then), others came from playing Steemgar, and most came from transfers from Dlease. So many good memories over the last few years. Projects that no longer exist and others I'm still enjoying today but on a different blockchain.

My last power-down will happen on Monday the 26th of July. I will make my last steem transfer to Binance and eliminate all steem related websites from my bookmarks and the keychain extension. I'm holding on to my keys just in case.

Steem was my entry portal into the crypto world and I can't help but feel some sadness for the way things turned out. Damn you JS...
