Today I would like to share with you the story of my first investment in the DeFi sector. Unfortunately, it was not very well thought-out. Nevertheless, it is worth drawing an important lesson from it, I invite you!
I decided to invest about $180 in a project on Harvest.Finance in the Ethereum ecosystem. Bearing in mind that the transactions cost a few cents, I thought that such a relatively small amount would be suitable for the start, because I want to explore the topic before going further. Well, but it was not so colorful, because I forgot that this is not 2019 and transfers no longer cost 8 cents but 8 dollars. This was my big surprise. But hard, I bought Ethereum then I have to invest already. I received a transfer worth $123 in ETH, which I then wanted to exchange to FARM to invest it further on the site.
My first transaction on Uniswap didn't go through, I don't remember why anymore, it was 100 days ago. Irrelevant. 2 dollars were gone. The next transaction, an Ethereum to FARM exchange went through correctly. I exchanged $108 in ETH for 0.67 FARM worth $106. The cost of the transaction - $10. 10 dollars per transfer, only now I woke up to the fact that the network is expensive and these are no longer the beautiful days of a few cent transfers.
Then on Harvest.Finance I had to confirm for the website to manage my FARM token. I wanted to save money here. Guess what happened. Yes, the transaction cancelled. Another $4 was lost. At this point, realizing that ETH transfers are not cheap, I bought another Ethereum to have for transfers. Remember how I mentioned $180? Well, that was the total investment amount. At the beginning I deposited only $130. The additional $50 came because of the huge commissions.
So I withdrew 47 dollars from the exchange and went further into action. I was very nervous how much money I was spending on just "ordinary" transfers.
This time the contract approval was successful. The cost - $8. I thought it was a done deal. But no! Now I only have to deposit tokens to start earning. I really did not know that it takes so many stages to place funds in DeFi.
The deposit commission was $19. Since then, I've been holding FARM until I collect enough or the rate rises enough for me to sell it for a profit commensurate with the nervousness I felt 100 days ago.
What I would like to tell you in this story. It is not good to be frugal by force, because out of sheer greed two transactions were lost. The second issue is the lack of information in the steps you need to take when entering the world of DeFi. Let my failures be a valuable lesson for you, if you ever want to try.

Pamiętając, że transakcje kosztowały parę centów to pomyślałem, że taka relatywnie mała kwota będzie odpowiednia na start bo chce najpierw też zgłębić temat zanim wyruszę dalej. No ale tak kolorowo nie było, ponieważ zapomniałem, że to nie jest 2019 rok i transfery już nie kosztują 8 centów tylko 8 dolarów. To było moje wielkie zdziwienie. Ale trudno, kupiłem Ethereum to już muszę zainwestować. Otrzymałem przelew o wartości 123 dolarów w ETH, które następnie chciałem wymienić na FARM, aby je dalej zainwestować na stronie.
Pierwsza transakcja na Uniswap mi nie przeszła, nie pamiętam już dlaczego, było to 100 dni temu. Nieistotne. 2 dolary przepadły. Kolejna transakcja, wymiana Ethereum na FARM przeszła prawidłowo. 108 dolarów w ETH zamieniłem na 0.67 FARM warte 106 dolarów. Koszt transakcji - 10 dolarów. 10 dolarów za przelew, dopiero teraz obudziłem się, że sieć jest zatłoczona i to już nie są te piękne czasy kilkucentowych przelewów.
Następnie na stronie Harvest.Finance musiałem potwierdzić aby strona zarządzała moim tokenem FARM. Chciałem tutaj przyoszczędzić. Zgadnijcie co się stało. Tak! Transakcja anulowana. Kolejne 4 dolary przepadły. W tym momencie zorientowany, że transfery w ETH to nie jest tania rzecz dokupiłem kolejne Ethereum aby mieć na przelewy. Pamiętacie jak wspominałem o 700 złotych? No właśnie, to była całkowita kwota inwestycji. Na początku wpłaciłem jedynie 500 złotych. Dodatkowe 200 pojawiło się przez wielkie prowizje.
Także wypłaciłem 47 dolarów z giełdy i ruszyłem dalej do działania. Byłem bardzo zdenerwowany ile pieniędzy wydaję na same "zwykłe" przelewy.
Tym razem zatwierdzenie kontraktu się powiodło. Koszt - 8 dolarów. Myślałem, że to po sprawie. Ale nie! Teraz muszę wpłacić dopiero tokeny aby zacząć zarabiać. Naprawdę nie wiedziałem, że trzeba tyle etapów aby ulokować środki w DeFi.
Prowizja za depozyt wyniosła 19 dolarów. Od tego momentu trzymam FARM aż nie uzbieram wystarczającej ilości lub kurs wzrośnie na tyle abym mógł sprzedać to z zyskiem proporcjonalnym do zdenerwowania jakie we mnie było 100 dni temu.
Co chciałbym Wam w tej historii przekazać. Nie warto być na sił ę oszczędnym, ponieważ ze zwykłej pazerności dwie transakcje przepadły. Druga sprawa to niedoinformowanie w krokach jakie trzeba podjąć wchodząc w świat DeFi. Niech moje porażki będą cenną nauką dla Was, jeżeli kiedyś byście chcieli spróbować.
