Hey Hive, I'm really excited to announce that in a matter of days my novella Professor Otagburuagu would be open for preorder and funding on Kickstarter! (Kickstarter.com)

For those of you who don't know about Kickstarter, it's a platform that allows one to get preorders and funding for their creative projects. Once preorders are made and money is paid you have funds to take care of costs and people to enjoy your creative project at the same time.

This novella is a collaboration between myself and our very own genius Scandinavian artist @katharsisdrill. I write the story while he illustrates with his usual spellbinding art like the following:

About Professor Otagburuagu

It would interest you to know that the character Professor Otagburuagu and the idea for the story was birthed here on hive. In 2017 I won the chance to write the middle part of a story contest hosted by @vcelier for @adsactly. You can find the story here. My part had this villain I created called Professor Otagburuagu, a secluded criminal mastermind who practiced African dark magic and was consulted by elite Nigerians for his criminal master plans.

He immediately became very popular among the people who read the story and later when the contest requested for an illustration @katharsisdrill's illustration won. His illustration was about the character Professor Otagburuagu, he had fallen in love with the character just like most of the other readers did.

And what's more? After the contest he suggested we do a collaboration where I write more stories with this character while he illustrates.

There's something about some characters in fiction, you see them and you just strongly feel like, no, this character deserves their own story centered fully on them. It's just like how after the character Peacemaker was portrayed by John Cena in The Suicide Squad (2021) many people felt like this character deserves his own movie/series and they made a full season of Peacemaker this year.

I lunged at the chance to make more stories about Otagburuagu because I loved the character too and enjoyed giving life to him. We began. The plan was to make 6 episodes for hive, 1000-1500 words each. We made three episodes, you can find em here: 1, 2 and 3 but I couldn't continue as I had university law exams to take by then. After my exams it was 2018 during the bear market. Everywhere was so dull, so many had left the platform and I had also lost momentum.

It wasn't until the lockdown in 2020 that I succumbed to the pressure my soul and body had been mounting on me to complete the story. So I did, I made 8 episodes instead of 6. I sent it to @katharsisdrill in April. He liked it! But we decided to make it a book, a novella. So I worked on it some more and by October we had 12 episodes, 30,000 + words.

We've had some delay but now at long last here we are!!
