Is Orca Still a Thing?
I still remember the days of focusing on building our HP (previously SP) to levels that created unique classes of accounts. In fact, one of the happiest days of my digital life was when I became a Dolphin with 10k SP! It was an addiction quickly after as the Crypto Winter of 2018 allowed me to quickly continue to accumulate my stake and start to target the next step in becoming an Orca. However, with the fork, perspectives changed for me while I focused on balancing my portfolio.
As I watched it occur, I had to choose a side and while I always leaned towards the community aspect, I knew there were always trade-offs. In what I think was more luck than a genius choice (or both), I decided to follow Splinterlands at the end and grow my assets there instead for which I have not regretted. However, I believe that the success of Splinterlands alone demonstrate the value created by a Blockchain that focuses on community based engagement. This is why I have looked to refocus efforts on becoming an Orca once again.
I honestly never stopped but it was until recently that I started rebalancing assets within the ecosystem, that I have been able to accumulated more HP that could get me even closer to that goal I set years ago; 50k HP! However, I do not hear about it being an aspirational goal as it once was in the past. I do see a number of key accounts that I follow haven gotten well past 100k in fact which makes me feel like it is a goal to consider. Is being Orca still a thing? Or not?
I feel that one of the trade offs of the second layer and communities is that it has moved the focus to the different projects being built on the same underlying ecosystem. I see many other projects like LEO, CPT, SPT and others gathering large following of accumulators but feel that the HP that powers it all being left behind. Am I wrong to focus on the engine of it all, our stakes? It would not be the first time I am wrong but considering what I have seen from Splinterlands and some upcoming projects like Ragnarok and 3Speak Network, I am encouraged to refocus on becoming an Orca in short time! Already 90% there!
