Coingecko is the best coin tracker on the internet IMO.

I just wanted to state this for anybody reading that I love the coingecko website and have it on my bookmarks bar. I prefer it to any of the other alternatives out there at the moment.

Now with that said, when you click onto the Hive page of their website it's severely disappointing. When you look at the majority of other tokens on their website there is a litany of information.

This is Digibyte, one number above Hive in terms of marketcap.

Now Hive. It's a few measly sentences at best. This is a shame considering how much is built onto the chain and all of the unique selling points that it has. Hive is currently the number 4 top transacting blockchain according to blocktivity with the number one blockchain based game according to dappradar. It has one of the most unique starting points in crypto and I feel that it should be accorded a lot more information on the site for prospective buyers.

Half of which are related to the split from STEEM which is now a few years ago.

What is the Hive Token? Hive is a cryptocurrency for an open source social media blockchain. It was conceived through a hard fork of the original Steem blockchain after a group of the community decided to split and form their own chain.

What is the difference between between Steem and Hive? Essentially, Hive will be a copy of the Steem Blockchain at launch. All "valid" STEEM stakeholders will receive a perfectly mirrored balance of their current STEEM holdings in the new HIVE coin.

How can I get Hive Token before the Launch? Existing Steem holders will not need to claim anything. They simply can log in with their existing Steem account details and you will have their new HIVE coins in their wallet and be able to start using the blockchain. Steem that is held in some exchanges will also honor the airdrop, therefore, users can also store their STEEM on the exchanges and be credited the same amount of HIVE when the blockchain launches. This is similar to chain split events following the split of coins such as Bitcoin Cash, Ethereum Classic and others.

This was all well and good at the launch of the Hive blockchain over two years ago but as one of the top transacting blockchains out there with hundreds of dapps it's time for a complete overhaul of the page with up to date information.

Out with the old, in with the new.

To any of the @coingecko team that might read this, would it be possible to get an updated and accurate profile page for our community and token?

As a team who have ties to the chain themselves it would be great to see an update on their information to reflect our growth over the past two years.

What would I like to see included??

  • Where can hive be traded?

    • Binance
    • Bittrex
    • Upbit
    • Hive-engine.
    • Leodex
    • Blocktrades

  • What is the Hive token?

Hive is DPOS based blockchain. The stake comes in the form of Hive tokens. These are staked to your hive account for resource credits needed to transact on the chain and governance purposes with the ability to earn more Hive through creating and consuming content. It is a decentralized blockchain with twenty elected witnesses that are responsibly for securing the chain.

Hive has multiple advantages over other blockchains for building applications due to it's fast, free transactions. Decentralized nature and immutable accounts with real usernames.

  • What is HBD?

Hive Backed Dollars (HBD) are the Hive Blockchain’s stablecoin. Hive-backed dollars (HBD) are a unique type of trustless stablecoin that is backed by the underlying value of the Hive blockchain itself and pegged to the USD. This backing takes the form of an onchain conversion operation that lets HBD be converted to an equivalent USD value of Hive itself.

  • What is the hive eco-system?

The hive eco-system is made up of numerous second layer projects that utilize hive's fast free transactions to build their own web apps on top of the blockchain. A more complete list can be found at https://hive.io/eco with applications spanning across defi, gaming, fitness, blogging, video. Due to the decentralized nature of the chain as well as it's technical capabilities there are very low barriers to entry for anybody who wants to build a second layer project onto Hive. The chain itself is capable of scaling multiple times it's current capacity and with the constant development since it's inception will have even more to offer going forward.

  • Where can I learn more about Hive?

The main website for the Hive blockchain and it's eco-system can be found at hive.io. There are multiple other resources about the blockchain spread across the different hive based platforms such as https://leopedia.io/category/hive/ and https://peakd.com/b/badge-321321.

  • What is the difference between between Steem and Hive?

Not relevant at this stage of development as Hive has far surpassed it's original fork.

  • How can I get Hive Token before the Launch?

No longer relevant two years after the airdrop.

These are just some example of the information that would be good to share with people looking at the hive page on @coingecko but I would be more than happy to write up a more complete version if asked with the help of the community. But it would be good to have our outstanding blockchain presented in the best possible light to all of the users of coingecko.
