Yeah I am about 68% down with my ADA I bought back in 2018 so if I can make something back through staking it, I might as well try it, there's no point in selling it really at the moment! As far as I can see, ADA is a proof of stake token so it's needed to maintain the network and you delegate your stake to trusted "witnesses" whilst getting a return for doing so.

Whether it will go up with other alts remains to be seen, we can hope though 😁
