Let's make our brains work, convincing by example is the way to integrate more people into the world of cryptocurrencies.
It is an undeniable reality: there is no way to stop the revolution of decentralized digital currencies (also known as cryptocurrencies), as they become more and more advanced in their technology and of course people get used to their use and adoption. Yesterday I shared the wonderful experience of a small Salvadoran village called El Zonte, a fishing community that decided to assume its own economic destiny by freeing itself from fiat money and adopting BTC as the only currency in the area, which positively transformed the lives of the 3,000 souls that inhabit it.
It is necessary to highlight that this decision of the people of El Zonte does not correspond to a presidential decree, it is the materialization of an idea that came collectively, product of using the knowledge of a group of men and women on the subject of cryptocurrencies (especially BTC) for the common benefit. These people demonstrated to the world that it is possible to solve everyday problems just by adopting a free and decentralized economy.
But convincing people of the benefits of adopting cryptocurrencies is perhaps the hardest job to do, as there is a lot of skepticism and ignorance about these decentralized digital currencies. I still see in many people the fear of freeing themselves from the fiat money trap, I guess it is a natural fact since human beings tend to distrust the unknown. Obviously to get more people to embrace cryptocurrencies with BTC at the forefront is to convince by educating, to make them feel confident in this new economic paradigm and make it friendly.
I have a friend, very skeptical about cryptocurrencies, her opinion about Bitcoin and cryptocurrencies is categorical: 'I don't believe in it, they are a fraud', and my arguments in defense of this new economy were in vain before her closed opinion. Given the decisiveness of his position against decentralized digital money, I asked him why do you think cryptos are a fraud? and his answer reflects how much we need to work: They say it on TV. Without knowing this world he rejects it based on the negative media campaign.
Hearing her argument I just thought that like her millions of people in the world must think the same about cryptos, so how to convince our friends and family to adopt this new economy, I am convinced that only by preaching by example we can reverse any opinion and it occurred to me to invite her to go shopping, an activity little motivating for her given the permanent deterioration of the two fiat currencies that govern Venezuela: the bolivar and the U.S. dollar. We went to an important store in the country, I asked her to help me choose some dresses, shirts, shoes and jewelry, trusting in her good taste.
I noticed her impressed by the amount of items we selected, she was worried that she did not have enough funds to pay for these garments, I told her that there is no problem about it. She asked me curiously if a family member outside the country sent me money or if my boyfriend gave me a generous amount of cash as a token of his affection, none of that was my answer, I am simply monetizing content on the social network Hive, at the same time telling the cashier that I am going to pay with cryptos.
Seeing the fast process with which I made the transaction and the amount of items I purchased, she could not help herself and asked me: Nirvana, can you explain to me about content monetization and cryptocurrencies, it was just what I expected to hear, because I saw myself reflected in her economic desperation and the need to increase income, especially in these times where a pandemic called fiat money is destroying lives, dreams and families. People will integrate into this new world to the extent that we teach them that cryptocurrencies can be an integral part of our daily lives and that access to them depends only on ourselves.
