I remember when I was a child I loved to collect some figures in the form of discs with the drawings of my favorite cartoons, my friends and I called them Tazos, the trade name of these chips which were found inside the bags of snacks or candy. When it was time for recess we would get together to show our tazos, generally we had the most original or weirdest ones.

nes had the most original or rare ones were the most appreciated, to the point that some classmates would offer their lunch or snack, even money just to have that desired collector's item.

Skipping the differences, this Non-Fungible Tokens (NFT) thing is very similar to the story of the tazos of my childhood, but on a scale and dimension impossible to imagine 20 years ago, especially due to the fact that the fever for collecting objects went from the tangible to the intangible plane, inspired by the success of cryptocurrencies in the planetary economy. As it is known, NFTs are unique, indivisible, impossible to trade on other platforms, single ownership among their main characteristics. Evidently the art world and collectors have made NFTs a business with impressive profitability.

It seems incredible the craze for cats but I would never pay $115K for a digital drawing of a feline, even if it is sold as something unique in this world as it happens in Cryptokitties, but that's the way this world of collecting is, sometimes what we believe out of all logic for others is something natural, as a necessity. Obviously if there are people able to pay for a unique object then there will also be creators willing to satisfy needs and create niches for their works.

The biggest advantage of NFTs is the fact that they are traded through Smart Contracts on the ethereum network, which guarantees the utmost neatness in the acquisition of the NFT. However that still does not guarantee that some authors will not receive a fair reward for the work they create. I have noticed some comments on #leofinance criticizing the fact that some authors have sold their work for pennies while their buyers revalue it at hundreds or thousands of dollars.

While it is a multi-million dollar niche there are still things to be defined. I do not think that the authors of images are the only ones to venture into this world of NFT, surely other types of artists will venture into this field, perhaps poets, composers or filmmakers wanting to create NFT where the collector gets a song so unique that only he hears it, or a poem or video that can not be played on more than one device, everything will depend on the scope of cryptographic technology and interest in expanding the range of NFT in the future.

The future seems indefensible for the NFT, it already represents the third aspect of the crypto world that generates more money along with investment in cryptocurrencies and DeFi, plus the fever for collecting digital art seems unstoppable and inexhaustible, meanwhile I will have to remember where I left my tazos, maybe they will be back in fashion.
