A lot of things have been influenced by globalization in our world today. I had a quick reflection over how my grandmother described the hard life they lived back in those years without globalization. The long journey made by trekking took them days before they reached a particular destination. The trade by barta in terms of food, the difficulties they encountered while trying to communicate with a relative at a far distance, the long time and so much energy consumed in pounding some certain types of their native food that should require machine blending—the lists are many. Upon this reflection, I kept thanking my stars that I wasn't born in those hard times of our forefathers. lol, I don't want to imagine how terrible it would have been for me then. Globalization embraced us with advances in technology, and life has been pretty much easier despite its negative effects on our society.

The impact on my life

My ability to work online with the help of the internet and my mobile device has been made possible by globalization. The good friends I have been connected with in different states across Nigeria and some friends outside my country have been a great positive influence in my life. The easy voice and video calls I make with friends and family at a distance, the online course I took comfortably from home two years ago, the online shopping I ordered from another country and had it delivered to my door step, etc. All these were possible through globalization. The positive effects of it in my personal life have been incredible.

Let's look at how globalization has impacted my country positively in a few aspects...

The issue of trekking for days to reach a particular destination has been taken care of through transportation. In fact, one can even take a flight, train, or perhaps other vehicles to reach wherever he or she desires without suffering on the road.
Such limitations we had then in my country .

Globalization has brought foreign investors to Nigeria and increased trade with other countries, which has led to some job creation. Have you visited the new Dangote refinery in Ibeju lekki Lagos state?  The number of employees there is large. This was also possible through globalization.

The development of the internet and other communication technologies has led to the growth of the country's ICT sector. Alot of individuals nowadays are taking the advantages of it, building their skills and this has also increased opportunity for those in IT category.

There has also been a surge in e-commerce activities, which have been facilitated by technology. A great example is the sale of goods and services via social media. So many people in my country have been taking advantage of this opportunity to earn money the much they can.

How about the cryptocurrency you and I enjoy today? There are too many advantages to globalization, and I wouldn't deny the fact that it also has its negative sides, such as the increase in pollution, cyber crimes, and aided deforestation, etc.

In conclusion, the impact of globalization in my life and in my country so far has been significant, and I hope to utilize all the good sides of globalization.
