Hacked!

Last night, I noticed my delegations had stopped, so I sent a message to @DLease and I went to bed. One of the last things I had done was sign up for an Airdrop for a Defi space, but at the time, the two did not click as being together. Someone had posted the Airdrop in my comments, and they had a decent reputation score, so I did not think much about it. When I checked into the company, it was legitimate, so I assumed the link was. I mean, they had Metamask connection at the main site, so it had to be legit, right? Well, yes, the company was legit, but the link itself was a shortened link that took a person to a fake Hivesigner page. I did not think twice when I put my key into it, and this morning, my account is gone. Reputation score, money, and four years of writing - gone.

Start Again...

I am not the type to just "give up," so here I am, back at it. I sold some crypto I had and made a deposit to this new account. That way, I can participate on the platform, buy NFT's, and have Resource Credits. I am glad I had not put a lot of effort into the games yet, although I had been playing CryptoBrewMaster and had just started on Rabona getting ready to have a fantasy Soccer Team. I had also just got into Splinterlands but again, I had not gotten into it too much. I am really more upset about the time and effort I have put in over the last four years. I started on Steemit, and now I am here.

Learn From Others!

Although you may be there thinking, "Man, this guy is dumb, that could never happen to me!" Believe me, you are wrong. As I said, I have been on Steemit for four years. I have been using crytpo and dealing with keys since then, and this is the first time I have lost anything, so I was doing pretty good. I was tired, moving fast, and thought I saw a good thing. Airdrop? That is free money! I had to have it! Who cares if the Hivesigner did not load, I will just put the key in, after all, I am tired, you know? The company is real, so this is just a glitch, right? Trust me, it could happen to you! One way to be safe is to do the one step I did not. Use a tool like Expand URL to make sure that the link you are on is a legitimate link. If I would have done that, I would not be writing this. I only hope I can help someone else with my mistakes.
