This alternate beneficiary idea has merit but only for people you interact with in my opinion. I’ll only do it again for people that I follow and think will keep the extra hive to help them get further here instead of just cash it out.

I think this is a good way to think about it. Delegation for the unknown new accounts and HivePower gifts for new people to encourage them to keep stacking their Hive/Leo power.
