This is my entry into this week's Hive naija prompt. For more information about this week's prompt, click here.

In sport, an own-goal is a situation where a player scores himself or his team, as opposed to scoring his opponent. When it comes to finance, I think it is a great thing as you become your competition.

Writing this piece prompted me to myself ask important questions like, “what do you really want?” and the first thing that comes to mind is comfort. I want to be able to do things for the people I care about with ease. This is what drives me as a person.

The second question is: “how do i achieve this feat? And within what timeframe?” I have been fortunate to earn money doing the one thing I love and that has pushed me into a world of abundance.

Although I like to think in terms of scarcity because it is a hardwired concept ingrained in our minds, I like to believe that if I keep giving and improving on my skill sets I will continue to be valuable to the world around me.

My major investment is myself. I invest my money and time in myself. It is an investment that always pays off, and it always helps me to generate more value.

I think the first step to financial freedom is financial literacy. We all need to equip our minds with the right knowledge in order to make the best financial decisions.

Aside from personal development, I also have other things I am interested in pursuing. One of them is real estate. I currently own a property that is still under construction.

One of my major goals is to complete the project. After which I plan to own at least one other property, and probably go into agriculture in the nearest future.

*Why Land?

Land is one of the most secure investments. It is tangible, unmovable and can be used for different things. Most importantly, it is not subject to various interpretations. Land is Land.

Also, there will be a population boom in Nigeria which will increase the demand for housing. Aside from wanting to make money, I think building properties serves an important purpose in my sphere.

I would also want to become a venture capitalist at some point in my life. I want to be able to invest in innovative ideas that will help people in my sphere. I am particularly interested in the environment and finding meaningful ways to preserve our planet.

For altruistic reasons, I would also like to go into charity and help people with disabilities. I think once I am in a position where I don't have to worry about money, I want to devote my time, energy and resources to making the world around me a better place.

Crypto has been my gateway into the world of money and has helped me achieve some of my long and short-term dreams. It is still an ongoing process but looks quite feasible to me--the possibility that I can achieve my goals.

In conclusion, I don't have any elaborate plans to become a millionaire. I believe it is a default result of adding value to yourself and the people around you. My focus is on creating value.

I nominate @blezyn to share with us her financial goals
