On some days like this, it is quite difficult to articulate one's thought as the mind is streaming with different ideas. This is where macro blogging apps like Twitter come in handy, where one can share different ideas without seeming disoriented. I wish we can experiment with such ideas again. I know we used to have something of that sort (zapplr I think) in the past but for some reason, it was discontinued.

While most macro blogging platforms are about sharing information, microblogging platform achieves this same feat but with an interpersonal element which can easily absolve people for minutes and hours. A simple tweet can lead to a thread of multiple conversations. This is gold for every platform that thrives on generating revenue from people's attention/time.

Most of the time we spend chitchatting on discord can be transferred to hive. Fast and organic conversations on the blockchain. I do not understand the technical difficulties this might create but it is an idea worth exploring and most likely will result to increase in engagement and traffic for the dapps that pulls it off.

MICRO rewards

I think one of the biggest challenges would be incentivising engagement. You don't want to see $10 on a 10 words post. Personally, i don't think should be incentivised. There is this notion that people would not engage if they are not incentivised to do so, but it is quite evident that most people spend more time on discord (chatting for free) than they do on hive(where they get paid for their social activities). However, if that's the case and we need to incentivise people to engage on a micro level then a default reward cap can be set to curb over rewards and messing the token economics of the platform.

I heard leofinance development team are already playing with the idea. If they successfully implement a mico blogging feature on their website then that would be something. I can imagine 50% of the interaction on their discord server move to their website. This would potentially increase their Alexa rankings and probably increase userbase. Those who have questions about the community can easily sign up and get instant feedback from the active community without having to move away from their site.

Companies like Apple have successfully created an ecosystem for their devices and services which retains users attention and of course money. So creating a system where people don't need to outsource information is important for user retention. One reason I love the leofinance one-page website. Concise and compact, giving the user a snippet into the various available options.

Do you think a microblogging dapp like Twitter can succeed on hive? what are the potential challenges? Share with me in the comment section.
