WHERE ELSE BUT HIVE?

I just read a post from an old friend who seems quite perturbed by the poor performance of hive in the market. I do understand his sentiment. Seeing a project that was once ranked amongst the top 50 projects in the crypto market (based on capital size) slip down the ranks is quite disheartening especially if all one does is look at the charts.

There is more to hive…

Yes, I will admit that we are not getting that many investors/speculators and it is something that needs to be addressed. I have said this before and probably a lot of us here will agree that we need some proper marketing. Even within the hive ecosystem, there is a need for some reorientation. For many, there is no difference between hive and steem.

Some people who bought into steem still have the same hope and expectations for hive disregarding that hive is a new project. Hive is not steem. Hive's ATH is $0.97, steem's ATH is $8.17. Both blockchains have different market caps and communities. So I do not understand why people still compare both projects.

It is sad but many do not realize that hive and steem are two different projects now and should be treated as such. Steem failed as an investment for many people, financially and fundamentally. The same cannot be said about hive. If you ever bought hive the worst is that you've lost 65% (if you bought ATH) of your investment. On steem it is over 90%. Most altcoins are yet to reach their ATH, so this issue is not peculiar to hive alone. In the case of hive you still have a decentralized blockchain that is still evolving.

What other option aside hive?

I do hate the fact that many of us do not see the social value of this platform which is unfortunate. If I powered down and left hive today that would be the end of my crypto journey because I do not see myself waking up every morning looking at charts to validate my investment which is what many people do. Chasing gains is great but I would rather have it a different way. Having a workable blockchain is enough to stay bullish in the long term.

Hive has 9 lives.

Hive is a project that cannot die. It just can't. There is a high chance that if you're not so optimistic about hive, you might be excited about projects associated with it. For example, my biggest bet for 2021 is leofinance, a project built on the hive blockchain. There are many projects such as leofinance on the hive blockchain which makes it impossible for it to fizzle out.

It is a difficult position coming from steem with a lot of expectations. But it is unfair to criticize a project that is barely 2 years old. I understand the sentiments of those who invested heavily in our sister chain but projecting your previous expectations on hive without putting an equal amount of time, funds, and content on hive is grossly unrealistic.

Buidl, hold or leave...
