For several months now I've been trying to find a way to merge my blogging activities. On the one hand I've been using my Coil blog for nearly two years, but on the other hand I've been posting on Hive websites like peakd.com and leofinance.io as well.

Now two things happened recently that have made this possible:

  1. Coil has been moving out its blogs, pushing writers to use write.as instead, which is a platform I personally find less appealing than the original site.
  2. Matteo proposed to set up a blogging platform linked to mg.social, which is a Coil- and XUMM enabled social media platform where users get rewarded in XRP tokens for sharing their content.

You are currently looking at said blogging platform, where I believe I am probably one of the first users of it!

So I put in a feature request.... to get the Exxp plugin installed such that the posts on blogs.mg.social are not only Coil monetized, but also get pushed to the Hive blockchain. Now that particular idea I got from CryptoAdam (a.k.a. aussieninja), who had already been doing something along those lines for his own blogs.

This post is a first test to see how the two integrations, the Coil monetization for viewing content (it pays out ~$0.36 for every hour that a Coil-subscribed person views your content I believe) and the Hive monetization for upvoting content, are currently working together.

I believe the situation is not yet completely ideal, as the post on blogs.mg.social cannot yet be upvoted using Hive mechanics, and the mirrored post on the Hive blockchain is not yet Coil monetized.

But for the time being this is good enough for me, and I hope it will help foster a community that endorses both Coil and Hive and, in due course, will help push for a more sophisticated integration that allows everyone to enjoy the best of both schemes!
