CORAL WRAITH: Weekly Battle Challenge

Peace fellow Splinters,

My battle challenge will describe Coral Wraith's major role on the battlefield with the combined efforts of different water elemental monsters. Although Coral Wraith was not as experienced as I would like it to be, I took advantage of the rulesets which helped my team grab the victory. The Gold league is highly competitive, especially two days after the season reset. It was an interesting battle that I am going to present just after the description of both team's lineup.

The two summoners on the board were Mimosa Nightshade Death powerful summoner and Delwyn Dragonscale from the Dragon summoner series. Our team selection was complex with many failed attempts before the end of the count down. Even though the ruleset "keep your distance" gave some advantage, the numbers of possible combinations were overwhelming.

CORAL WRAITH, epic water elemental monster, is registered in the Untamed series in Splinterlands. I discovered the potential of Coral Wraith during the untamed only cards tournament. Coral wraith card in my collection has at a low level no rust ability because of the limited resources deploy to level up summoners and cover rental cards fee. Even though the ruleset "Aim true and keep your distance" creates challenges, I was confident deploying my team and ready to face any outcomes.

Also known as Warlocks of the Ocean, Coral Wraiths are the dark and frightening sorcerers of the deep. Stories say that they were once air breathers who grew tired of life on land. Through a magical alliance with the Mer Dark, they gave up their lives above the water forever.

Battle Ruleset: Aim true and Keep your distance

I am going to share my short adventure meeting one of the powerful Death summoners under the pressure of including a low-level magic monster in the arena of the gold league.

I have displayed below the details about my BATTLE CHALLENGE which is my entry for this weekly publication.

The lineup of the cards in the arena

Summoner: Mimosa Nightshade level 3 | Death elemental, All my opponent monsters had the abilities affliction and void. In addition, friendly range monsters lose one point of range attack.

First, my opponent lineup has positioned cards from the death element aligned in the following order:

* *Mimosa Nightshade level 3 - Void, Affliction added to opponent monsters, but range minus one to friendly monsters

Death elemental level 6 - Gold, Abilities Snipe silence and void

* *Darkest mage level 5 - Gold, Abilities Affliction void

Tower griffin level 6 - Gold, Abilities Flying, protect, void

* *Dark astronomer level 6 - Gold, Abilities, Shatter, void

Mantoid level 8 - Gold, Abilities Snipe, snare, void

* Goblin Chariot level 6 - Gold, Abilities Piercing, void

Although I couldn't anticipate the selection of my opponent, I knew that I was going to face monsters with ranged and magic attacks. Therefore, I made sure that the defense monster against magic attack was placed in the first position.

Summoner: Delwyn Dragonscale level 5, was selected to unlock the abilities of my team monsters then boost friendly monsters' magic attacks. The water elemental monsters were selected for this match in order to put on the board Coral wraith.

Here is a description of my team lineup

* Delwyn Dragonscale level 5, All friendly magic monsters have one additional magic attack

* *Prismatic Energy level 4 - Ability Magic reflect

Ruler of the Seas level 1 - Ability Blast

* *Phantom of the abyss level 1 - Abilities Flying and Dodge

Axemaster level 1 - Ability Double strike

* *Coral wraith level 1 - Ability Sneak

Captain's ghost level 4 - Ability Affliction

The line of the two teams wasn't perfect but the outcome of the battle remained a surprise up to the third round.

My strategies

Delwyn increased my monster's magic ability while Mimosa severely diminished magic damage and prevented the healing effect on monsters. Coral Wraith stood strong facing the opposite side fury of range attacks. As the rule keep your distance forced both players to not select melee attack monsters, the addition of magic strength from Delwyn strengthened my strategy before the display of cards on the board. Prismatic energy and Phantom of the abyss were key monsters in the success of my strategy then came Coral wraith to seal the faith of my opponent. My strategy was to return fire as much as possible against all magic attacking enemy monsters. I knew that many things could have gone wrong with this strategy especially if my opponent had placed first Lord Arianthus in its lineup. I prefer magic instead of the range in the execution of my strategy because the range monster can't attack once they arrive in the first position of the front line.

Did my strategy work?

Yes, I was surprised that my strategy as basic as it was, actually worked. It was great to discover no Lord Arianthus or heavy magic striking monsters on the opponent line. In fact, the first round finished with half of my enemy monsters destroyed. Two of the only magic monsters in the opposite team were defeated while the rest of the range monsters could not manage alone the offensive and defensive role in battle. Prismatic Energy was once again marvelous. It was the gatekeeper in this match. Phantom of the Abyss and Coral wraith were the offensive agents in this team. The monsters played successfully their part in this strategy which lead to the victory as early as the second round began in the Arena. My opponent made a simple mistake that was the absence of strong defense monsters against magic attacks in the first position of its lineup.

What will I try differently next time?

I will definitely include in the second position Lord Arianthus when similar conditions of battle are going to occur in the future. It is possible that the silence and void abilities of the opponent team nullify my magic offensive strategy so one powerful range monster in the team is important. We are pleased to complete this weekly battle challenge article with these exciting battle rulesets highlighting the power of range and magic elemental monsters.

Did I like Coral Wraith? why or why not

I selected Coral Wraith in this battle in order to execute my magic offensive strategy and it worked smoothly. I like to utilize Coral wraith when the ruleset of a battle is defined such as "keep your distance". Coral wraith has sneak and rust abilities when leveled up. These abilities are both my favorite as I play in the higher rank battle. I have planned to invest more DEC in Coral wraith instead of monsters equipped with the armor ability. The rust ability of Coral wraith reduces the armor of all enemy monsters. I believe that the investment to increase Coral wraith's number of combined cards up to level four will be worth it. The impact on the battle outcome will be significant as Coral wraith level 4 enters the Gold league Arena.

I am thankful for the battle challenge curation team that gives us an opportunity to present our strategies around a specific monster in action on board. This battle team selection was determined with a basic strategy due to the ruleset that allows only range, magic, and neutral monsters to enter the arena.
