One of the basic needs of every human being is shelter. Having a roof over one's head is exactly what we all want. Imagine living on the street and under the scorching sun. We all need a house, whether rented or owned by us.

Buying or owning a house of your own is not an easy task. To own a house of your own requires a lot of finances. One needs to be financially buoyant before they can actually buy a house. Anyone who cannot afford a house opts for the cheaper option, which is to rent one.

Renting.

Renting a house, as we all know, requires us to pay some amount of money to the owner of the house while we make use of the house for a stipulated time. Renting is more economical compared to buying, but what if things don't go as planned and the rent expires and there is no money to renew the rent?

During this period, the landlord will be on your neck, a lot of bad words thrown at your face, threats of throwing you and your load out. Life becomes unbearable. This is one of the major reasons you need to buy a house of your own.

In most cases, the landlord lives in the same compound as the tenants, and he controls how you live your life.The landlord sets a time for you to come back, or else you will be locked out.

I was looking for a house in school. I met a landlord and he gave us the lodge rules and regulations, which state as follows: 

• Visitors are not allowed to stay more than two days. 
• You are not allowed to use heavy electrical appliances, so you don't increase the bill. 
• The use of generators is not allowed.

The rules went on and on. If I had stayed there, then the landlord and I would have been archenemies because none of the rules were in my favour.

For one to buy a house, they need to be financially buoyant. Someone with a monthly income of $50 wouldn't think about buying a house just yet but renting. Such a person needs to plan his/her life before they think of buying.

Owning a house of your own comes with a lot of advantages. It comes with a different level of joy and peace knowing that from year to year, nobody is coming to ask to pay a dime for rent.

Benefits Of Buying A house.

There are lots of benefits that come with buying a house. I will mention just a few:

• Every year is rent free. Nobody will put pressure on you and ask you to pay for rent. 

• You are the boss of your own life. Nobody else dictates how you live your life. 

• A house is an investment you enjoy for the rest of your life. It means a lot.

We are humans with different opinions on this issue. For me, I'd say buying a house of your own is better. For the reasons stated above, I'd rather buy a house of my own if I have the money to do so than rent.

I don't like people dictating how I should live my life. Having a house of my own gives me the liberty to live a life free from dictatorship.
