The last few months in crypto have been an amazing thing for me to witness and experience. I would venture to say I am at the older end of the scale as far as average user age in Hive. A few months ago, nearing nearly 3 years in the Hive ecosystem, I was thinking about what I had accumulated so far in crypto currency. While I thought that someday in the future it might have great value... it would probably be for my kids and not me. Well surprise to me, the future might be now!

The Early Days

As this screen shots shows my start on the block chain was less than spectacular earnings wise.

There were a few minor success's, but over all a lot of $0.00 earnings in the first 8 months. Too be fair though I was mostly just posting a picture or two and a few words and had never blogged in my life. Finally in November, around post number 150, I made my first dollar plus post and I had started to understand a bit more about what would be required to be somewhat successful on this platform. I am a little surprised though that my mind had the mental toughness to stick it out during this dry period.

Transition to Hive

Pre Hive hardfork I was doing fairly well. I had some followers and some benefactors that would visit my posts from time to time. After the hardfork I moved all my Steem over to Hive and things really began to change. My stake had nearly doubled, I began to spend a little on HE tokens, I bought some BTC, and I pulled out $30 dollars to fiat. I was hooked and in my mind I could start to see how this could turn into something big.

Into the Bull Run

I continued to blog on Hive, exchange a little fiat for BTC, and learn more about crypto. Late December 2019 I got more involved with Leo Finance because having some SPI, I wanted to get myself heavily involved in its sister project LBI that was starting soon. Spending time reading Leo Fianance posts and hearing about the new projects on the way, had me even more convinced about the positive future of crypto.

Even though I had read posts about how being in the right place at the right time in crypto could be almost instantly life changing, I'm not sure my brain really was able to totally believe that. Then a couple things happened to really change my sometimes doubting mind.

Cub DeFi

I knew very little about DeFi and I am still very green on the subject. So I did a lot of research and worked hard to be ready when it launched. I'm still learning but as of right now I am earning about $60-$70 worth of Cub weekly. Not a bad bit of passive income considering where I came from. :) Now I am working to position myself to be ready for kingdoms.

Proof of Brain

What is happening with POB has my mind reeling. A couple months ago I saw a post about Proof of Brain and started using the tag in some posts. As I started to see the POB stack up in my Hive Engine wallet I decided to try a post through the POB front end and the results were fantastic. Beyond the financial rewards of POB there is also a great sense of community and engagement.

I find myself in a unique situation for me in Hive. I am near the top ten of stakeholders. With delegations a 100% full power up vote from me is worth around $4.00. In my mind I now feel an obligation to make sure I curate good content and engage and help others be successful also. A great power, great responsibility type thing. ;)

For now my POB is worth around $1200. I gained this in about 2 months mostly through posting, engaging, curating and staking. While I realize this could all come crashing down at any time I intend to just keep doing what I have been doing. Will POB go 10x, 100x, 1000x who knows? For me it has demonstrated that things can escalate and change quickly in the crypto world. I'm just glad I am finally becoming involved in some of those projects that have that potential.

Thanks for reading and have a great day!
