Since the existence of Bitcoin, developers have looked for ways to make operation cost cheaper, user friendly, and generally adoptive.

Over the years we have seen multiple series of upgrade from proof of work to proof of stake and many others.

The upgrade brought several changes which allowed users to operate various chains and platforms at a much cheaper rate and individuals/developers no longer need high power flow of electricity to operate their corresponding platform unlike Bitcoin and this made operation cost much cheaper.

If individuals no longer need this much electricity then what other alternatives do they have?

Well, welcome to another beautiful day and today we will be looking into Validators on the PlatON Network and how users not only secure the operation of PlatON Network but also get rewarded for doing so.

What is PlatON?

PlatON, initiated and driven by the LatticeX Foundation, is a next-generation Internet infrastructure protocol based on the fundamental properties of blockchain and supported by the privacy-preserving computation network.

In short it is a combination of privacy and blockchain technology, bringing a more advance computation of data via a privacy network.

Over the years they have gone from beta mode to full operation and created series of completed and ongoing event with the goal of bringing a mass adoption of PlatON operating system and also the creation of multiple types of DApps.

All this is made possible by network Validators.

What is a Validators?

These are groups of nodes who meet certain requirements and Lat holdings to govern the entire PlatON network, they process and validate blocks, maintains nodes, and propose various decisions regarding the operation of PlatON Network and while their tasks are somewhat much, the network ensures they are compensated for carrying out the various activities.

Unlike Bitcoin that requires various mathematical problem solving which is done by the use of high electrical inputs and multiple computation system powers, node Validators don't require this.

Becoming a validator requires one to hold 100k $Lat and also be among the top 201 voted nodes, meaning community also play a vital role when it comes to managing the network, as a Validator you are trusting these individuals to make good decisions which will affect the network in a positive way over the long term.

Now what possible reward do one get for taking upon such role?

The source of reward consists of two parts:

Offerings: Each year, 2.5% of the total of the previous year is offered in increments, and 80% of the offerings (which is 2% of the total) enter the reward pool

Foundation subsidy: Equivalent to 3% of the total initial allocation. Allocated in the first 10 years. Keep the node reward pool the same every year.

The above can be summarize as a brief requirement of what it means to be a Validator.

In other to avoid creating a long and repetition of a well written documentation of node validator and its requirement and process, a link will be dropped below to a page that explains how users can become a PlatON node validator, requirements, how to setup their workstation, and all other necessary info.
