Cashing with very little energy

Eden Hazard was a magnificent football player, especially in his years at Lille and Chelsea and in the 2018 World Cup with Belgium. But the last three seasons he “played” at Real Madrid, he still is their most expensive transfer, a whopping 120 million EUR.

But his ankle and a few operations on that ankle made his form decline and therefore he was never able to live up to the expectations of the demanding Madridista. He hasn’t even scored 10 goals in those three seasons and the last six months he didn’t even leave the bench in La Liga.

But Eden has no plans to leave for another club as he still has another year in his contract with Real Madrid. He cashes over 25 million EUR per year. No other team in Europe is prepared to pay that for a player that hasn’t played 25 games in the last 3 seasons. So Hazard will stay at his beloved bench for another season as he would be mad to leave that 25 million EUR for an unknown adventure somewhere else.

Sad ending for such a player

It’s a sad way to be spending the last years of his career, but financially it’s a smart way. I can’t blame him, 25 million is a lot of money, but I would love to see him play for a smaller club somewhere in Europe. I love to see him play and I am sure his still has some magic in those little legs of him…
