Tornado Cash, crypto currency mixer

Tornado Cash started out in 2019, and is a service that mixes various crypto currencies and transactions to make the origin of the money untraceable. They are definitely not the only such service around the interweb.

But Tornado Cash made one big mistake, 18 % of the influx of money came from sanctioned entities and 11 % was purely stolen crypto. That’s obviously not activity we all applaud. So, the Dutch “SEC” acted on it, and arrested “a developer” today… Very weird action, not the people behind Tornado Cash got arrested, but the one who wrote the code?

What in heaven’s name is that good for? That’s like arresting Tim Berners Lee, for all the bank fraud that’s happening on the internet he created.

Or, arresting the person who invented Morphine, because someone overdosed on it for recreational purposes.

I understand that these services are a target for official instances, but, in God’s name, take appropriate action and don’t just put a coder behind bars.

Sincerely,
