2021 Tennis Tournaments
With many tournaments being cancelled due to Covid related issues, the pool was limited.
PTT Barcelona (12th - 18th of April) took place between 12th and 18th of April. Sasha lost two games and won two games in the group stage, and her game got better and better. She ended the tournament on the 3rd place, after winning both playoff games.
Short run in W25 ITF Oeiras followed by a great run at Sibenik. The adventure started with the qualifying rounds where Sasha won all 3 games and showed strength and game quality.
1st round : 6-0 6-4 vs Sylvie Zund
2nd round: 6-4 6-1 vs Andela Jocovic
3rd round: 6-0 6-4 vs Diana Martynova
The first game in the main draw was against Anna Zaja, the #5 seed and one of the strongest players in the tournament. Sasha started as the underdog and lost the 1st set. The tennis maturity and mental strength I noticed in Sasha's game was the spark of the comeback and the reason the game turned against the tide.The next round seen Sasha dispatching the young Antonia Ruzic in two sets, which leaded to a top meeting with the tournament #1 seed. Sasha game plan was amazing and she recovered after losing the first set. Unfortunately, her opponent was stronger and won the 3rd set.
1/16 finals: 4-6 6-3 6-3 vs Anna Zaja
1/8 finals: 6-4 7-5 vs Antonia Ruzic
Quarter-finals: 2-6 6-4 4-6 vs Johana Markova
