You don't have to swing hard to hit a home run. If you got the timing, it'll go.
— Yogi Berra

Perfect timing— I am not good at it, not at all. At any moment, I can tell you numerous events when things went out of my hand just because the timing was not perfect. But life goes on and you gotta focus on the journey ahead. Holding onto the past doesn’t bring any good, better take the lesson and get yourself prepared for the next.

About the timing, a particular event on Hive triggered me to write about this a few days back. Although I decided to write almost instantly, I was caught up with other issues— i.e. a long list of movies, sleeping, eating, blah blah.

It was two days back when the price of Hive suddenly went up to almost $0.40. My device was right in front of me as I was looking at the candles. Actually, I was planning to buy some at low when this phenomenal activity took place. It was so quick that there were barely a few moments to think wisely and take action. Totally unexpected and short-lived. But I was there to witness it. And I thought the price will go up more, given the rate the price went from around $0.33 to $0.40ish.

Unfortunately, I am not good at trading. Not even with other financial matters and always play safe to avoid loss yet sometimes, make tiny profits. But I felt lucky to witness such a quick jump, and hurriedly placed orders at $0.37 and $0.39 with the tiny asset I have. It was a few hundred of Hive and gladly, I secured them almost instantly. As I was waiting for the price to go up so I can release them for an instant profit, the price went down, putting me at big surprises.

Like, hell no— why does the price have to go low whenever I place my bet?

To make it even worse, the electricity went off— an unexpected power outage at odd hours. So, I was thinking about what I just did as my asset is stuck there while the price is going down to lucrative ranges where I could buy a few more hundred with my asset. But it is what it is— I will have to wait for the price to go really high, and might take many days given the bear situation. My mind just got strayed, and eyes fixated on the illuminated keyboards.

It was dark around. All is quiet except for a distant noise, an announcement over the megaphone. A vendor screaming about his magic bulbs with rechargeable batteries in them— what a timing!

He calls it AC/DC bulb that automatically turns on when the electricity goes out. I am sure the vendor wasn’t expecting a sudden power outage at that particular moment, but luck favoured him and he must’ve sold more bulbs than usual during that blackout.

I know it’s kind of hilarious, the whole event— me buying at high and the vendor doing good business, but then I came to realisation timing is the thing. Can’t blame it on my luck as I wasn’t strategic or wise enough to identify the trick, understanding the behaviour is a thing all traders must learn.

But again, the crypto market is highly unpredictable unless someone is purposefully manipulating it with tons of assets at their hand, so, there is no guarantee your trick will save the day. Still, a combination of proper knowledge, adequate experience, and good timing will surely save you from disaster.
