Some technologies are new to the world, which is ever more evolving each day into something new, something unknown. Society advances in the direction technological advancements take us, parallel with one another. We had the industrial revolution. Then we had the internet. Now we have blockchain. But not all technologies are completely new. They are based on concepts that have existed for many years.

Decentralization is the future. That much I am sure of. But is it also part of the past? Well, yes actually. But not in the terms of blockchain technology which we are used to here in the crypto space. All those explorers with their ships going outwards into the (then flat) world. They were all busy decentralizing, whatever their purpose may have been. But that's decentralization as a concept. Other things like peer to peer networks are surely new right? Wrong. Those aunts of yours gossiping and spreading rumors around their network of aunts are concept a peer to peer network.

The world is full of concepts, on which advancements and technologies are based. A popular theory states that all things in life can be broken down into binary terms, zeros and ones. And accordingly we can break down all inventions into concepts. Ideas that were planted, inspired by nature, society or any simple thing in our surroundings.

The concept of decentralization has now inspired distributed ledger technology and all of its many use case, the world of FinTech being an important part of that. This enables people to not just decentralize themselves physically, but also their digital assets. Any type of data can be in multiple places at once, without a centralized authority governing over it.

So, the concepts are there for the taking. What will we invent next?
