Cloudfare Joins Ethereum and Offer Decentralized Web Services

The famous American IT security and web services company, Cloudfare, has joined the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) network to manage ".link" domains and thus offer decentralized services. This is considered a breakthrough that gives scalability to web domains distributed on the blockchain.

This integration will make the ENS and IPFS (Interplanetary File System) domain names more accessible to the end user. This change can be seen on 01/18/2021. Both companies affirm that they have been working together for a little more than 1 year to carry out the integration, likewise the ENS clarified that it is not simply the use of a pre-existing platform such as cloudfare, but that the integration goes beyond that.

Brantly Millegan, ENS Director of Communications issued a statement stating

"We have been working with Cloudfare for the last year to help them develop their own service. of gateway ENS + IPFS, and on January 18 we will point our DNS domain "eth.link" to your new service. This will not only provide better uptime and scalability, but all services accessed through the service will now have https."

As of January 18, we will be able to place the extension ".link" at the end of a domain ".eth" in this way it will not be necessary to have special browsers or additional extensions in the browser to visit these types of sites.

For its part, the company Cloudfare Research posted on its blog:

Quote"We have been exploring alternative ways to resolve queries to responses that align with these attributes. We are proud to announce a new resolution for the distributed web, where indexed IPFS content can be accessed by the Ethereum Name Service (ENS) "

Currently the Domain Name System popularly known as DNS, allows you to link names to Internet IP addresses to facilitate user navigation between websites, however, it is a centralized service. On the other hand, the ENS with the same domain can index different types of information: cryptocurrency addresses, email or simply text.
