Ever since my encounter with Nigerian investment companies last year where I lost $10,000 I have decided not to to give my money to any so called Nigerian investment companies. The country is very hard, we all know that, but scamming each other is not the answer. At first these scammers came up with outrageous interest rate to entice investors into falling victim. They came with as high as giving investors 30% ROI monthly on their investment and used the forex and cryptocurrency narrative to back it up. Nigerians fell for it, I am guilty in this section. I fell for lots of forex scams.

Nigerians decided to be a little bit wiser and chose to go for investment opportunities that had lower interest. Initially they used to go for investment opportunities of 30% monthly, but now they went for 15% and ended being duped also. Some Nigerians have discovered that they are being cheated by the bank and they don’t want to leave their savings in the bank because of inflation. Inflation is killing the value of the Nigerian currency.

People called those who wanted to invest to get 10% ROI monthly, greedy. This scammers became quite wiser and decided to make their ROI 10% - 15% yearly. This strategy was to make them seem legit, Nigerians decided to invest. Some people sometimes choose to convert their money to dollars to invest in these platforms for 10% - 15% yearly.

I wouldn’t blame these people because I had fallen victim before and I risked it for a 15% ROI monthly. But these people got duped for a 10% - 15% ROI yearly. A couple called Bamise and Elizabeth Ajetunmobi, who run an investment company called Imagine Global Solutions ran away with investors money worth 22 Billion Naira that’s $38,000,00 worth of money. Imagine the disappointment when they found out that their office was locked up and they couldn’t reach the couple. News got out that the couple had fled Nigeria.

This company claimed to be giving out loan with 22% interest rate and also offered investment opportunities of 10% interest yearly. Because of the distrust Nigerians have on banks right now, some people found it safer to invest in this company. This has taught them a lesson I guess. Although, this is not the first time Nigerians got duped and this will definitely not be the last time, because lots of Nigerians are way too doubtful and most of them always fail to do their own research. They don’t believe in cryptocurrencies because the government said so, they don’t believe in cryptocurrencies because there is no physical office for bitcoin.

These are some of the excuses some of the crypto ignorant ones give

This is another part of financial issue that crypto solves. Hive savings gives you 10% of your savings every year with far lower risk. That’s among the least of opportunities crypto can give you. Defi can give you more than 50% of your stake with far lower risk.
