For some few days the Hiveblockhas been down and it feels good to see it back online. I can remember when I was a Newbie, 2 weeks on Hive, the Hiveblock was my favorite platform to navigate because it helped me a lot.

Joining hive, I didn’t have anyone introduce me into hive to explain the basics of Hive or put me through so I navigated, read and asked a lot of questions through post comment sections. I didn’t even know about discord or joining a discord community to ask for guidance.

My first time on Hive, I had no idea what Hive power or resource credit was. So my first few hours on Hive, my resource credit was exhausted and I couldn’t make any post. Whenever I try to upload a content, I get a pop up message saying, my resource credit was low and I needed Hive power. By chance I stumbled upon Hiveblock

If you are a newbie reading my article I will assume you don’t know what (RC)Resource Credit and Hiveblock are, so I will explain it for you.

If you were introduced into Hive by an experienced Hive user, some of you must have noticed that you were delegated some HP(Hive Power). This was done for you to have a enough resource credit to make a post, comment, upvote and explore the Hive community conveniently. See it as your PTA(Personal Traveller Allowance) given to you when migrating to a new country to settle. Your first few weeks, you need money for your transport, feeding, and paying for rent till you get accustomed with the new location and can be independent on your own. So resource credit is the credit to access some resources in the Hive community. These resources are

  1. Comments
  2. Votes
  3. Transfers

Without the resource credit you won’t be able to make use of these resources, you won’t be able to comment, vote or transfer. As a Newbie you are given resource credit to make limited comments(4), votes and transfers. That means that when you exhaust your resource credit without having Hive power or being delegated Hive power, you have to wait for some few days for your resource credit to replenish.

As a Newbie I didn’t know about this, but Hiveblock helped me track my resource credit and helped me strategize and manage the way I used my resource credit. So what is the Hiveblock you may ask.

Hive block is a hive platform that shows you all your Hive interactions and transactions performed on the Hive blockchain. It lets you track your voting power, downvote power, resource credit and other things.

It shows you your voted witness also. It shows you lots of things that you might find gibberish as a Newbie, when you take your time to go through those gibberish writings it will make sense to you.

Here it shows interactions and transactions you have made on you Hive account.
