Teens & Bitcoin: What Do You Think Your Life Would Look Like If You Found Crypto At 13?
Few hours ago, jack Dorsey who is the CEO of Twitter and Square( developed cashapp) tweeted and posted a link that explained that cash app can be accessed by 13+ right now. Cash app also gives people access to buy bitcoin and cryptocurrencies.
Michael Saylor asked if teens can buy bitcoin now? The answer was “Not yet”. But that got me thinking. I just came to a realization that most crypto exchanges accept 18+ users. I think I realized that now because I started using crypto way after I became 18 so I didn’t notice the age restrictions at first. Then this gave me some self reflection, if I was 13 years old right now would I be thinking of buying bitcoin, I really can’t say because lots of things are changing. When I was 13 years old my main priority was getting a video game PSP or PS3.
The reason I wanted those video games then was because everyone was talking about it in school. You were seen as a cool kid if you had any of those video games. But things could be different right now. It could be that teens are aware of cryptocurrencies much more than we think they are. This is because of the social media and internet generation. You can’t restrict or control what they see and this might bring them more crypto awareness.
Most of these teens are spending most of their time on the internet and they learn a lot of cool things, crypto currency is so easy that these kids know what crypto mining is and how to mine. With the supervision of their parents they are making thousands of dollars mining bitcoin and cryptocurrency.
Most parents, after being convinced about bitcoin and decide to invest they get so surprised to find out that their kids know way too much about bitcoin and stocks. All thanks to the internet and social media. Although it’s so cool that they are investing now because they still have a long way to go, they can make all the mistakes, learn from it and be wiser. These days you find parents taking crypto and stock advice from their kids because of their knowledge in these things.
Lots of parents can confirm that they got influenced into crypto because they watched their kids make lots of money in it. Imagine watching your kid reap lots of profit just by buying a digital asset with low risk.
Some kids are lucky to have parents who know a lot about crypto, couple that with the internet and social media, that kid’s knowledge bank will be marvelous.
Looking At TikTok, videos that have a crypto or bitcoin tag always seem to have lots of views ranging to billions. This is another way teens learn from crypto also.
