It has been a while since I shared about my progress about my Splinterlands journey. I bought the Spellbook on 25 Sep so this means I have been playing Splinterlands for 1 month!

For most parts, I was still figuring things out and have been casually clocking battles in Bronze 3 League. Rewards aren't good but I found the gameplay interesting and I enjoyed it very much. As most would know, it was announced a few days ago that Bronze 3 players would not receive any DEC for battle rewards. While I was disappointed (I wrote about it here), I decided I should step up my game and adapt to the new system.

Within 2 days, I am happy to say that I have progressed from a Bronze 3 player to a Bronze 1 player using only 10 DEC. My profile snapshot below is the proof. :)

P.S. Actually my rating is eligible for Silver 3 but I am out of DEC to rent more cards to increase my CP. ><

So in this post, I will share some of the things I did to get there and hopefully, this can help some new players as well as existing Bronze 3 players looking to progress upwards for the last few days left in this season. :)

1. Firstly, understand the requirements, especially Collection Power (CP) to qualify for each league. You need 1,000 CP for Bronze 2 and 5,000 CP for Bronze 1.

2. Use 10 DEC to rent cards intelligently. By this, I mean don't just rent the cheapest cards to increase CP, but also go for good cards (but not too expensive) that will help you win battles because you need to increase your rating as well.

  • Pick cards for Elements which you tend to use more often. For example, my personal preference is more inclined towards Life, Death and Water so I will pick cards under these elements.
  • To get to Bronze 2, Epic cards will be sufficient. For Life, I rented "Hero of Beyond". For Death, I rented "Shadowy Presence". For Water, I rented "Axemaster". (These are just suggestions and you should rent based on your playing style.)
  • Using PeakMonsters, I was able to get myself up to 1,000 CP at below 10 DEC per day.

3. The next step is to fight well and win battles with your new cards. They should be make a difference in the battles and within 5-8 battle wins in Bronze 2, you should be able to earn back the 10 DEC rental cost.

4. Continue to grind until you have at least 50 DEC. Once you have 50 DEC, you are ready to get yourself to 5,000 CP.

5. This time round, use the 50 DEC to rent Gold or Legendary cards.

  • Gold cards will help to increase your DEC reward for battle wins and Legendary cards will make you more powerful.
  • However, do take note of your budget and avoid renting cards with bad CP/DEC ratio. Again, you can use PeakMonsters for this as they do a good job by sorting all the ratios in the "Rent" tab.
  • I was able to get myself up to 5,000 CP at below 30 DEC per day.

6. With your refreshed deck, it's time to secure those battle wins to bring yourself to Bronze 1. Once again, you should be able to breakeven the rental cost in less than 10 battle wins. (Yes, you need to fight hard!!!)

There you have it, that's my journey of getting from Bronze 3 to Bronze 1 with just 10 DEC!
