OSMOSIS is the most popular DEFI application built on the COSMOS network, and I've been invested in various pools and validators (staking) for getting on for sixth months now, and overall it's been quite profitable.

Although the early-day > 100% returns have come down, all of the pools I'm currently staked in are still offering some reliable returns, as you can see below.....

The only slight downside to this is that my main stake was in the AKT-ATOM pool and AKT has gone down considerably in price - from $4 when I went in to $1.50 now, HOWEVER, because that's a two-thirds AKT stake pool at least I didn't have too much ATOM exposed, 50% less than had it been a 50-50 pool, in fact.

The reason I've got so little invested in the OSMO AKT and ATOM pools is that I was putting in every other day as I earned OSMO, swapping half for whatever other token, but then I notced there was an even better return on just staking OSMO to a validator, so I started doing that instead.

TERRA AND UST COME to OSMOSIS

A couple of months ago it because possible to swap various COSMOS coins for UST and TERRA, and for me it was great to have a stable coin on the platform.

I was tempted into the UST-OSMO pool however, and actually bought some more OSMSO to go into this about a month ago, a rare swap for me, buying the 'DEFI coin' to pool - but TBH the OSMO price has been stable above $4 for ages, and just today it's seen a nice 15% pump uo to well over $5.

I have, however, also cashed out a decent amount along the way, swapping for ATOM, then ATOM to Binance for stables.

OSMOSIS got me into CRO

I actually made a point of researching some of the coins on offer on OSMOSis, one of which was CRO - I decided to swap some AKT for some a while back, which turned out quite well as the AKT then dropped and the CRO went up.

The only problem there was that I had all of that CRO in pool with something else, but hey, it's all more tokens, but I since took the CRO out thinking that would be more useful to hold onto!

I also bought some SCRT for an ongoing airdrop

I also bought some SCRT to stake for an airdrop which is currently live, I get some too for staking ATOM and ADA, at least I think I do, the qualifiers are pretty obscure for this one.

Staking to validators

I also now stake....

  • ATOM
  • AKT
  • OSMO
  • SCRT

To various validators, they give varying returns, ATOM is only 10% but that's the 'aidrop stake' coin, OSMO's return is > 100% which is very nice!

Final Thoughts

The AKT price drop aside, I've been very happy with my staking to OSMOSIS ventures.

The amount I've had staked has been small compared to what I've got in Cub and on Splinterlands (especially) but it's been a reliable yield for the past six months and I'm happy to stay in this.

I am going to do some jiggling though - out of the AKT-ATOM pool and I'll probably just stake the AKT in its pure form and then think about what to do with the ATOM - I'll pool it with something, just not sure what yet!

COSMOS/ OSMOSIS - FIND OUT MORE...

Go to OSMOSIS Zone to get started - I use the Kepler Browswer wallet.

I can highly recommend following JK numbers - he writes regular posts on all things COSMSOS - like this one on recent updates!
