I'm now a Top 200 Hive Power Holder, but I'm not Happy About it!

I made it to spot 197 in the Hive Power leagues recently, as measured by @arcange's most excellent Hive Buzz statistics (do yourself a favour and vote @arcange a Witness if you haven't already BTW!)

While I'm obviously personally DELIGHTED to have reached this milestone (I mean who doesn't like riSing in the rankings and becoming a 'top whatever' account!) I'm a little bit unnerved by the fact that I've managed to get there with less than 75K Hive Power.

I distinctly remember @exyle doing a video about becoming a Top 200 Steem Power holder about 18 months ago, at the time he had more than 200K Steem Power.

If you don't remember @exyle he's the guy who used to do frequent videos about how much he loved the Steem community and then when Justin Sun came along was pretty much the only T20 witness who decided to side with him, and then didn't migrate to Hive but instead sold most of his stake.

Anyway, I don't want to bad mouth @exyle too much, I met him IRL and he seemed like a nice enough bloke, I guess at the end of day he just loved/loves money more than the people on the Steem network.

And its thanks to him and other people like him just giving up on Steem and then Hive that I've managed to break into the Top 200 accounts with a historically small stake of less than 75K HP.

Of course there were those who didn't receive any Hive with the Fork from Steem over a year ago now, and some rage quit anyway, but I've risen up the ranks steadily over the last several months, so much of my relative gains have been due to more recent large account PDs.

NB I Tend to Only Vote for Hive Hodlers

I don't tend to vote for persistent sellers of our tokens - I think it's a duty to hold onto as large a stake as you can to protect against malicious attacks in the future.

Also if I vote people who just sell, I'm undermining my own investment.

I also might start to focus more on voting only within Tribes those accounts with a respectable amount of Hive. I do feel having a large POB or LEO stake and not a decent Hive stake is just freeloading, letting other people secure the chain without 'doing your bit', so those people deserve less I think.

It's pretty basic really, I look to support those people who support Hive with their stake.

Final thoughts

So yes I'm a top 200 account now, but that's no reason to celebrate, not at all.

I'd much rather NOT be in the top 200 and see a diverse array of people with 100s of thousands of Hive Powered Up, all using their HP to vote for a diverse array of genuine witnesses, that would feel much more secure than the situation is now with so many larger accounts having powered down, and so little inward investment,
