Wow! Chaos legion set is finally here and it's shook up the whole ecosystem right to the foundation, although the general bearish momentum in the crypto market adds a little bit on top of that. Let's quickly look at some recent events in the Splinterlands and go over the season stats and gains right after.

  • Presale phase 2 and pack opening

With the continuation of the voucher drop and start of the next sale phase (vouchers still required but dropped at 2x speed now) the real deal was also finally released. What's a game without actual gameplay? Splinterlands is one of those few titles actually providing quality and strategical gameplay and the opening of the new packs had many excited. So I finally got to open my: 0 packs. That's right, as much as I wanted to I'm using all the discipline I have to patiently wait for that general sale. The market is being pulled down and the currencies are dropping along with it right now.

I suspect part of this sentiment is because of the bearish momentum in general so we'll have to see how that will develop in the future. But the cards going down is in my opinion mainly because of the flood of supply from all the packs being opened. Now some suggest that the really good cards will hold their value. And while I can understand where they're coming from.. the remaining packs are sure gonna have an impact. I mean, just over a million have been sold. And then there are some bonus packs. I'm sure many aren't on the market and a lot are still to be opened. Here's a screenie at time of writing:

That means over 13.8 million packs still to go. I'm biding my time, not easy though :-P

Anyone who was complaining the game was pay to win, whales only, whatever they came up with, this is your time. Act now or forever hold your peace (does that even work in that sentence?), where now means in general sale and peace means stop whining.

  • Switch of starter cards

As someone who didn't stock up on packs yet, I was pleasantly surprised by the quick switch of the starter sets. I expected this to be in tandem with the switch to modern and wild format. Eventually wild will be for all sets released to date and modern will be for the last two sets only. Easiest way to identify the set is look at the card border.

So no more beta cards unless you own them. Luckily I bought some of the staple cards that can compliment your team even at lower levels. The older cards seem to hold their value a bit better even in the current market. And the best thing: I get to experiment and play with the new cards so I have a rough idea which cards I want to scoop up when the time comes. Definitely summoners first, untamed sold out pretty soon after I discovered the game. Long before I was able to accept the real value of summoners, not gonna make that mistake again so that's the main focus. But there's some great options after that even common and rares.

Silver 2 still, although I suspect I'll get a chance to warp right out of here if the current supply makes power more affordable. On the other hand the requirements could very well chance with the switch to modern and wild formats so will have to see where this is going.

Ratio is alright, at the moment I'm actually having some success with non-leveled chaos summoners so getting these leveled and using leveled cards should boost my game a lot.

Pretty boring, 1 gold. That's it really.. a common one. 3700 dec in total earnings. Ran out of quest potions too, had a blast with them but the set back to 2-3 chests a day is rough..

Collection progress since last season

You guessed it market down means collection value down! Big hit, but the power is up, time will fix this and more no stress, no worries. We're in it for the long haul and some fun while we're at it. Although I expect this value will stay around this for some time, when chaos is sold out everything is gonna go up again (no financial advice eh!). Do hope to reach 100k power in the near future.

Been staking a bit more again. Also added to LP's but this was before that I think. Should be up next season.

Really fun to finally play the new set and see how things are evolving and crashing. You know you found a good game when some are celebrating a crash, enjoy.

On to the next season!
